Hey guys and girls.
Well first off, How I got the car.
I brought a 1988 Mazda Mx6 Turbo coupe from a guy in Heathcote. I paid $1,500 for it, and did nothing at all to it.
Then I straight swapped it for the vk. The guy who had the vk wanted $3,500 for it.
Bit of a funny story really. The original owner of the vk is my mate. He did all the work to the car and motor. He swapped it to my other mate for 2 vr's and regrets it now. However we had a vr and would of swapped it for the vk, however my mate got in first and I was shattered!
Ok so it's now in the hands of my other mate. He then swapped it to one of his mates for a 5 Litre Vr Stato.
So his mate wanted to get rid of it, as he wanted luxury again lol.....So I said to him, I will swap my Mx6 turbo coupe for it, Me thinking oh yeah fat chance of that, He turned around and said yes!
So in the end we finally got it, but in a roundabout kinda way lol....
The missus and I drove down yesterday and did the swap.
Ok thats enough of that, lets get to some pics of the car. First I will through a pic up of the Mx6 and then followed by pics of the vk.
I hope you all enjoy, and if you have any input on what I should do to the car, feel free to add them.
Cheers

Not a fan of the scoop, and the gine bay needs to be cleaned and neatend.
But otherwise thats a good swap for a MX6 turbo coupe.
Im interested to see where it goes.
97 WRX AWD
Tein Coilovers + EDFC Dampener Control - Whiteline heavy duty Rear sway bar - Whiteline Droplinks front and rear
Turbosmart dual stage boost controller
IHI VF34 Turbo - XForce 3inch TBE - Oversized TMIC - Unichip PiggyBack ECU
PPG Straight cut 1st & 2nd, Slight helical 3rd & 4th and standard fifth - HD Clutch - custom braided clutch line
02 wrx 4pot front calipers - DBA500 two peice slotted rotors - Steel braided Lines
BP98 safe tune @ 171.8awkw
Looks like a damn good starting point, and a bloody good swap for a MX6.
I also am not a fan of those scoops but as you said each to their own. I personally would either put the hdt scoop on or have a bug catcher out the bonnet.
Will def be following this build.
thanks guys. Yeah well you wont be seeing much until its nearly doneits going to be a secret build and when nearly finished i will post up more pics....
this was just a bit of a tease and to get some ideas :P
Nice score man gona b a weapon. Hope its not like your other projects and u sell it :P
nah this is going to be a long term project and it will be finished before i sell it :P
thanks man, what you think i should do to her??
yeah not many have liked the scoop man, i like it too
well my plans are this so far.
Piss towbar off
Re-chrome the trims around front headlights
hide all wiring
move the coil from the firewall and hide it
vl interior as i hate the vk dash
smooth the mould lines of the doors and gaurds
thinking straight metallic black
also have some other ideas but not letting them out yet
also fix front bar, lower it. have an adjustable panhard bar already so that will go on, has a one piece tail shaft.
maybe try and remove the top bits that the trims cover on the rear bar so I dont have trims
Aint selling nothing man haha, I bet there hard to find too lol
Thanks for the comments man....Heres a list I just did up on street commodores.....HMMMMM no replies on there yet????
Here's some thoughts on what I have to do to her....Feel free to add other thoughts to the list of what I can do......
- Re-chrome the trims around the headlights
- Change the interior to vl as I dont like the vk dash. Most likely do custom dash and seats
- Fix/Replace the front bar
- Smooth the doors and gaurds where the moulds are meant to go
- Slam it on it's guts
- Paint it Metallic Black (Thoughts on this)
- Top of the rear bar where trim goes, remove them little daggy bits on the bar and have no trim (Thoughts??)
- Hide all wiring in the engine bay
- Change air filter
- Smooth out all the bay
- Relocate the fuse box
- Change the washer bottle setup
- Remove brake booster and master cylinder from the bay
- Remove clutch fan and radiator, replace with thermo and alloy radiator
- Relocate the coil, most likely hide it somewhere
- Remove the heater setup and have a custom demister
- Remove all aircon setup, Pump already removed which is a bonus
- Remove Canister
- Battery into boot
- Full custom boot setup
- Remove all tow bar gear
- Drop tank???
- Modify the rear bar where the exhaust is meant to come out and have no dip there
- Maybe try and change the fuel filler setup so its in the boot (Thoughts on this??)
- Remove aerial and smooth gaurd off
Any thoughts if I should do all this or maybe some things I shouldn't do and to do differently???
All comments welcome.
Thanks guys.

all good man, dont stress. Cheers for the link bud, checking it out now man.
yeah not a real fan of it man..... looks alright tho
Good base for a project. I'd leave the trim on the rear bumper on unless your taking the front ones off too. Definately move the fuel filler to the boot, it'll clean the rear quarter up heaps. I'm interested to see what smoothed doors look like too. I'll be following this one for sure.
Centrelink should bring in drug testing!
thanks man, the trim on the rear bar is missing and i dont have it.
You talking about the trim on the front what I was going to chrome??
having a chrome trim on the front bar and not on the rear might look a bit weird. Give it a shot though, ebay has plenty of bumpers for sale if you don't like it. lol
