Mate Thanks. Not sure what gearbox or cog you are refering to. I am running a T5 box. I used the oringinal inner cable an half the outer cable to the tranducer. I used a T5 gearbox end outer cable and joined it to the oringinal with heat shrink and reinforced it with hose and overwrapped it with duct tape. I worked out using the GPS that it was 15% too fast so I change the cog on the speedo cable drive from a 20 to 23 teeth. I works and the speed is spot on.

Picked up a set of these 17 x 8.5 ZR6s for the VK. Missing a centre cap if anyone has one.

Had to try them on to see what they look like.

They are still old school look but now I can get some decent rubber on the car.

I am thinking 265s on the back and 235s on the front.

A lot tougher look then the simmons.

I have selected the paint shop to do the job and haggled a price. But unfortunately like all good paint shops they are busy. Could be 3-4 months away. I am not looking forward to stripping it all down but will be worth it in long run. I will orgaize all new rubber kits and bits and pices for it. It will be off the road for a least 6 months.

Had the beast dyno tuned. It was a bit hesitant and stalled. Comments where that the mechanical fuel pump is not capable of puming enough fuel. Best to upgrade the fuel lines to half inch and fit a holley blue pump and regulator. Should be good for 220rwkw.

821.8 Nm Can that be right?

Hi there, I am currently undertaking a project that you may be able to help with, I am wanting to restore my calais to factory condition as mine is the same as yours would you mind posting some pictures, while what manual is yours running? I am a little hesitant in what to run although it was ruining a LV2 with a M21 gearbox from factory, I was considering a T5 any suggestions as I am starting from scratch no engine or transmission it is a 334 pack

Any information your happy to supply would be great dan000_1@hotmail.com

    Regards,

    Dan

good result! And if it has fuel issues, then you can certainly expect some more yet

don't take much notice of the torque figure.
That's the torque figure at the rear wheels, not the engine- rw torque is multiplied by the diff gears.

Mate I think you have to establish a budget and work from there. Mine is a $30k+ rebuild. Spent about $20k so far and have a $10k budget for paint and body.

I think an efi 5litre, T5 and VL turbo diff is not a bad start.

I would also be doing all the suspension and upgrade the brakes.

Start your own thread and throw up some photos. You will get a lot more input from others.

    Good Luck.

Today I have started the paint process.
    Strip car to the shell.
Send to blasters to do all underneath + engine bay + door jams etc.
Then chemical strip all the paint off the panels.
Then off to the painters for prep and paint.
Reassemble with all new rubbers and parts required.
Hopefully back on the road by the end of the year.

Made a start. No surprises so far.
It has had a little love tap left rear.
The only rust found is under the boot seal rubber.
The body is in amazingly original, straight and rust free.

Made up a jig to support the front of the car to manouvre it around. Probably a bit over engineered but I used what I had.

Now stripped down as far as it needs to go. Booked in for blasting in 3 weeks. I just need to wrap up the underdash stuff and the rear window.

I have decided to go a different direction. I have picked up a VT roller engine. I am going to stroke it to 355 and go EFI. Will run my T5 and not the getrag that came with the engine.

I spent a few hours just blowing out and vacuum the sand out of the car. It is so fine and just gets every where. Collected half a bucket. Cleaned all the residual glue in the boot that glued the carpet in. Progress.

Not much actual progress happening to the car. I have sold the getrag box and the old stroker engine. Now have the funds for the engine rebuild. I have been doing a lot of research. I will most likely go scat stroker kit, crane cam and roller rokers and a ported and polished heads done locally.
