    Default hi Classic 48

Just thought we would say hello. Have been looking at the pics of your 50th VC. We have one too, number 230. We've had it almost 2 years now and it's just clicked over the 210,000kms. Here's what we know.
    - There were 300 made out of the Adelaide plant, as far as we have been able to find out...all the same specs.
    - They were issued with a medallion and commemorative bottle of port...all numbered identically to the car.
    - The cars were painted in Contessa Gold (or 'Commemorative Gold' as per the confiance plates codes).
    - Holden has no records of their builds for approx 12 years (1978-1989)... I contacted GMH customer care for information and that was all i got back.
    - We found production broadcast sheets (containg the codes for everything fitted to the car) under the carpet under the driver's seat and back passenger side. These were supposed to be removed from the car before the carpet and seats went in. We also have a friend who has been able to give us the 'recipe' for the paint colour so we can get it repainted. This is acrylic...not 2-pack.
    - We have an original letter from GMH, stating that there were 300 cars made commemorating the 50th anniversary of the merge between Holden Body Builders and General Motors. Around the same time this anniversary happened, the 4 millionth holden (a two-tone VC SLE) also rolled off the line (this car is currently sitting in the Holden Museum in Echuca) and the medallion that was produced featured the two cars.
    - our cars' owner's manuals have the same part number as the regular VC range but the print date was january and not june (as listed in parts catalogues).
    - The cars are a bit of a mix...'L' body, 'SL' running gear, 'SL/E' trims and accessories (minus headlight wipers and rear bumper extensions).
    - our's has post-factory fitted Air-con and power assisted steering.
    - interior colour is 'Buckskin' with velour seats.
    - 15" SL/E alloy rims (your's look like 13") x 5, bumper over-riders front and rear, front disk and rear drum brakes, 3-speed auto, high compression 202 motor.

What we'd like to know is if you'd be willing to tell us the last 3 digits of the body number of you car the see if they were all put down the line in consecutive order and also if there is an 'A' or 'M' at the end...this tells you the factory (Adelaide or Melbourne).

We also had replica front guard stickers made if you need replacements ($10 each), another of the car's identifying features...along with the dash plaque.
We also have contact with another owner in Sydney, who rescued his from a wreckers (number 171) and who has less paperwork than us.
I hope this has helped you out some and we'd love to hear back from you.
