    Default White vk

white 85 vk 202 auto i picked up for 500 hundred smackeroonies.

got it from a farm it was used as a paddock basher but by the looks of it hadn't been used like that for to long..

had a pretty dodgy exhaust, so it was loud as driving home,a real head turner for the police.

the fabric side of the interior all bar the headlining have all been ripped out, and ive got some beige seats and doorcards to go in.

im still undecided whether to paint up the interceptors i have on there or go with my wheels of my vh com i had, there these bad boys

dunno if they were designed to fit a holden stud pattern, but they fit on there like a bum in a bucket.

got a couple of major crust spots on the doors and a small one in the boot, but apart from some small spots of surface rust around the outside, its in pretty good nic.another notable spot is the totally ripped out peice for the door stopper, i mean i can imigine broken pin or something, but totally ripped..... DA ####!

while ripping the carpet, a peice of brown, tattered paper was found lying on the floor. some worker must have accidentally left a fitout sheet underneath there... ooops! posted the to most legible parts in attachments.

the engine is stock as a rock all apart from the extractors and exhaust. i Thought extractors were some dodgy ass brand but upon closer inspection i had scored a pair of pacemaker extractors.as for the motor itself... ah it runs like any 26 year old stock motor, gonna keep the varajet to get it regoed then replace it with a holley or triples.

i wanna get it registered and use it as an run to town/occasional driver for when i get my p's.

    plans
    :Thermo fan
    :better carb system
    :bonnet struts
    :new carpet
    :efi head
    : shiny engine bay
    :new bumpers
:chucking my 17 wheels back on it or paint the interceptors all the same colour(silver or black).

    plans for the next month

getting the interior all back in.

Youve got your work cut out for with this one, hope your keen! It will be a good learning experience for you, i would remove the windscreens as well as thats where they also commonly rust, the boot seal gutter also rusts out chronically too.

    Have fun

pretty keen at the moment, the glass in the doors might come out tomorrow so more hacking with the grinder maybe.

the boot sill gutter is crust free, just has some minor surface rust from dirt and shit sitting in there, nothing major

as for the windscreen it looks like its not the original 26 year old one, so the person who owned it probably had it replaced in the last 5 years. if there was rust what could i look for without removing the windscreen? would rust bubbles be semi visible without breaking through the paint?

ive heard there the best factory head/engine.

"The EFI VK 3.3 Engine is a significant increase in power over other blue/black Engines. The oil flow to the Timing gears is improved, the Coolant flow through the block is improved, the Pistons were beefed up and the Crank was re-worked. The head featured improved intake port shape and sodium filled, backcut exhaust valves. "

So over the past few weeks ive been pretty keen to get this car back together after taking the bumpers off/trolly strips, top trim and the back garnish and taillights.
This car had grime everywhere, its obvious that this car has been well looked after by the original owner, but the previous owner has just givin it a hiding. In the radiator support there was a nest...thats right a nest.Found hay in the suspension, red dust everywhere..just not fun at all.Gave the whole engine bay a blast with a low pressure cleaner and it came up alright. The battery tray was rusty so im taking it back to bear metal for a spray, not to fussed as it gets covered by the battery, just treating it as the last com i had, the tray had rusted through.

Theres a little bit of surface rust under the strips, were the top trim was( along the a pillar,in the gutters),near the fuel filler cap and various small dents and chips... what would be the best way to attack the surface rust? the rest of the paint is not bad, far from excelent.how much work would be involved in doing a respray of the same colour?

the rust in the boot is probably the worst spot on the car. waters been trickling down along the seam of the wheel arch down to the rust spot were it has pooled underneath the cork and just turned to rot.im not sure if its the opera glass or the back windscreen, but it will be definitely they will be definitely coming out after seeing the extent of the rot in the boot.

With tax time looming i'm coming to the decision of whether try a v6 conversion or get another 202. once again the previous owner has obviously not cared for this car as its smoky and spits Oil from the exhaust, i don't see how its difficult to buy valve saver and pour it in every time to put petrol in the tank...and i thought i was half assed. Atfer i get all the oustside looking neat i'm gonna put in new front and rear shocks and springs.

how much work is involved with putting a v6 in?

all in all pretty happy with this car despite its faults. Its going to make a good daily

heres some pics, sorry about the size, photobucket sucks a nut.

the rot in the boot rusted right through.
