    Default Mattys VC Commodore

    This is my 1980 vc sl. Story goes i always wanted a vb or vc so i found this one for $400 and it has became my long term project.

    Its a real dark blue black its got a blue 202 on gas and its just an auto. Plan is to put a 5ltr in it with a t5 on gas and one day maybe a turbo.

    Will add more info as i go.

    Yeah sure was a nice pick up. Had a proper look at the engine bay today and i swear some people should stay away form cars. The engine bay has been painted black with cans and everything has been painted from strut tops to wires and then they hit the engine with blue cans.
    Had to fix the earth since it was only running to the block and not the body also fixed up a few other wires the car seem to be a bit more alive. Now i just need to find out why i have no red lights in the dash.

    mate for 400 bucks who cares if some dip has gone sick with the spray pack on the engine bay its a cheap car lol....looks cool
    the good thing about getting older....more toysthe bad news more headaches

    For what i paid im not to worried about the engine bay plus it just another reason to redo it all properly. I wouldnt mind taking the engine out and rebuilding it. Im thinking maybe get one of them Acl rebuild kits of ebay with flat top pistons and just build a nice reliable engine.

    Dose anyone know what i would need to convert it to manual steering?
    Anyone got any info on what cam to run since its on gas?
    And what would be a good carbie to run with the gas?

    Might start getting into it tomorrow taking it apart and finding out all the little things that needs fixing.

    yeah those ACL kits will do good

    cam wise, i just went onto crow cams and looked for one that said LPG.
    Crow Cams
    scroll down till u get to the one highlighted in yellow

    with ur LPG set up. probably best to talk to a LPG fitter for that

    Thanks for the Crow Cams link and yeah i was thinking probably talk to a LPG fitter before starting on the engine as iv never had a gas car before let alone worked on one.

    will probably be your best bet man, i googled gas caby for holden 202s and evey forum i looked at said 'impco' but i just thought that was the LPG fitter

    forget the carby just run straight gas using a VK injected manifold with a gas research throttle body , high comp engine 11.5 . 1 , extractors and 3" exhaust

    Gas research was another thing i was thinking about. Why a 3" exhaust? sounds a bit big for a 202.

    3' inch to big depends what you want to do with the car , I did run such a system in the past on my old VH 3.3 sedan , mild voodoo camshaft , GRA 350 throttle body , outlaw extractors , recurved high energy dizzy from IC&E , head work shaved and mild porting , roller rockers , exhaust was abit droney on the highway but easy to live with and overcome by the stereo

    I may be wrong but would you be better of going for a bigger exhaust when running straight gas? Gas burns faster so that would mean more gases trying to get out right i don't no just a thought.

    Mite be changing the plans a bit iv been thinking why do up a 202 wont really be worth it i want a car with power and i also need a car that i can learn on since i cant go stuffing around with my everyday car to much. Was thinking of putting a vn v6 in it and running a turbo but i really want a 5ltr because i miss my old one and since its going to be a long term project (because im only 17) i mite as well try find a vn 5ltr and put that in it. Still going to be a while before anything major happens im going to get all the bodywork out of the way first rust repairs and stuff like that. If things work out ill run a 5ltr and t5 on gas and since turbo is the way of the future i wouldnt mind playing around with a turbo setup. Hopefully updates soon once i get my vn running properly.

    Can anyone tell me how 308s go on gas, since im running gas i dont really see the point in putting a 304 in it if the 308s basically the same bottom end and i really want to leave computers out of it, i hate computers.
    I was thinking could i use a 304 heads and a manifold on a 308 and just plug the injector holes and not run the sensors on the TB, that way there will still be no computer and im told no engineering.
    Do i need a engineering cert for changing it to a 308? iv found mixed answers on this.

    Yeah its pretty low in the back it turned out a bit lower then what i thought it would be, but due to losing my job its for sale.

    Cars gone it was this vc or a vn exec factory t5 v8, the vn won.
