Default My Opel Rekord E2 Caravan @ Opel Commodore C Voyage (RUSSIA)

    GREETINGS FROM RUSSIA!!!

My full blog is conducted at our Russian forum Êëóá OpelRekord.ru - Oldtimers, youngtimers, classic cars, retro cars - that's rulez!, my theme Rekord
Here I will write in brief that occurs ;-)

I welcome all! For a long time I watch and I know about existence of your forum, periodically I look spare parts on ebay.com.au, something even bought already on the caravan. I own Opel Rekord E2 Caravan 1986, has bought it under the project of creation of a remark on Opel Commodore C Voyage (http://cs10975.vkontakte.ru/u6033038...x_aac5d985.jpg), we Voyage haven't enough in Russia, and their release in Germany was too small (3439 pieces).

The complete set of my Opel boring - the hydraulic booster isn't present, the electropackage in general isn't present, the tachometer at all wasn't, interior a simple fabric, from options only the hatch which wonderfully still works, the engine native 2.2 liters, capacity of 115 horsepowers, an injector (the model is called 22Е, 8 valves, 4 cylinders). I have bought in its winter and the engine has ceased to be got a week later.

All photos connected with it are in this album Rekord E2 Caravan - cjey - Photo.Qip.ru / id: vas

Month I restored an engine injector (replacement of fuel injection nozzles, the control package an injector, partially conducting restoration and so on...) . After a half-year I went by the caravan, assembled all necessary details for its transformation in Commodore C (your analog - Commodore VB/VC).

But not absolutely original Commodore C, I have decided to put bumpers, moldings of a body and all interior from Opel Senator A2, the front running gear was as from Senator A2, rear axle I by miracle have found from Commodore C Voyage (this big luck to find at us the given spare part) then has got differential LSD of 45 % from Senator A which as native has approached in axle.

As I have bought the donor of Opel Senator B with the bad decayed body which to restore sense wasn't, have bought it for the sake of the engine and a gear box - one of the most successful engines from Opel of 1990-1994 - C30SE (3 liters, 6 cylinders L6/R6, 24 valves, two camshafts, aluminum a cylinder block head, 204 horsepowers), bought Senator B was a mechanical gear box.

    Full album here Opel Senator B C30SE 1991 Irmscher - cjey - Photo.Qip.ru / id: vas

From it Senator B I planned to establish the engine, a gear box, completely all steering system (a steering shaft, a steering reducer), a meter panel (and it LCD), the front braking system (but took only brake a caliper which in a consequence all the same should be restored).

Has got new disks brake (296х28мм from Opel Senator B). Also has pierced them for installation

Rear the drum-type braking system has decided to replace on disk, invented and considered all (disks from BMW E34 304/10мм, a caliper from Opel Zafira with a tag under a handbrake cable).

Expendable materials on the engine, new engine bearers and the gear boxes, new brake hoses and highways, a fuel highway too new were on the sly got, as well as the fuel electric pump, the new absorbers, all suspender was has restored, details of a front part of a body from Commodore are cleared by sand...

The complete set of wheels RIAL has been bought (front 16x8J ET13, rear 16x9J ET13), is put in 205/55 and 225/50 tire

To be continued! Transformation has begun!

Yes, something is similar with VN. In original form Commodore C & Commodore C Voyage it is very similar inside and outside to yours Commodore VB/VC, but happens also two-door. This Rekord E2 (Rekord E2 Caravan) was issued with 1982 for 1986 (in same year exhausted Senator A2), and Commodore C exhausted with 1978 on 1982 (as Senator A1). As exists Rekord E1 (Rekord E1 Caravan) which was made in parallel with Commodore C (1978-1982).

By the way once has casually got on this theme with German E1 Caravan
    My German Opel Rekord-E1

Drawnnite thanks! Seats which on a photo of green color, as well as all the rest (a carpet, the panel) from Senator A2 in CD version, this complete set is the fullest (the air conditioner, an electropackage, ABS etc.), seats have heating up.

I am sorry at once for my curve language, to me difficult, probably some words I will write not absolutely correctly))))

With engines to you has carried more. On Opel till 1990 the biggest engine was put 3 liters (model 30E, 12 valves, R6, 180hp. It was delivered on Senator A and Monza A). An exception is Irmscher Senator B (tuning the version of Opel Senator B which has started to be issued in 1987), on it put at first the modified version 30Е with the increased volume to 3.6 liters, capacity 200hp (the control system of injection was more modern, model engine C36NE, the same design, as at 30Е) but when in 1990 there was engine C30SE (which I I install in the caravan) on its base have made more powerful version, besides very rare for today - Irmscher C40SE (increased to 4 liters, 24 valves an aluminum head, R6, 272hp).
But all these engines have been invented by concern of Opel.

Therefore especially to choose there is nothing, engines V8 worthy aren't present, or they very much cost much. Installation in the German car of the American or Japanese engine isn't too welcomed. Though if C30SE will die, I likely will put instead of it Toyota 1JZ/2JZ or Nissan RB25, now LSD-diff should sustain 350-400Nm

For non native English speakers like our friend Cjey is it probably better to say "dashboard" rather than "dash" which translates as run quickly. Also, figures of speech are often very difficult to understand too.

I understood that such dash. As I try to understand that remaining users write

    Photos on installation LSD

In half shafts it was necessary to replace wheel hairpins, so so disks thicker than drums. For comparison length native and new.

Have established steering system, pedal knot, ABS and the engine from Senator B. Certainly not all has risen, as native, it was necessary to finish a few fastening under a steering shaft, under the generator to undercut a longeron. But as a result all has risen perfectly

(Under a cowl it is painted on draft what not to reach corners more, a muzzle still partially from Rekord E)

Some more enough rare new spare parts (for our country), especially firm FOHA spoiler (from rubber) :=)

Here it is a little more from history of construction of mine Voyage, wait for continuation!

Installed rear axle (temporarily without brakes), new highways fuel and brake. Anticorrosive processing and welding too are made

Installed front suspension with brakes (Shock absorber Senator A2, рattern 5/120, spring, disk and caliper Senator B)

    General view

Further there will be a report on a new front part, it is one of the main moments for me after which the body will turn in Commodore C Voyage

Since the exhaust system becomes all anew, I have bought the muffler from a stainless steel in style DTM, a new muff of the cardan, new original mouldings on a pedal

Well and as promised a new front, from this point on my Opel any more Rekord E, it Commodore C Voyage! (not all steel parts are fastened completely)

Meanwhile on it all. We are engaged in body geometry, we weld that remains not welded. Wait for news, I don't say goodbye!

Wow, can't wait to see this finished. It's funny looking at the images and noticing parts of the car that are the same as the Holden here. I know it is the same chassis/body but still strange to see a car from overseas look different but similar too.

The history of occurrence HOLDEN has occurred from Opel when Opel has joined to GM, but differences are besides the engine and a rear axle - steering system at you another

There have arrived today the wheels bought in Japan.
Pontiac TA GTA 16x8J, front ЕТ16, rear ЕТ00. The weight of a disk is less 7 kg, condition almost ideal

The centers I think all the same to paint, color would be desirable more brightly.

Long ago I didn't write anything. Works proceed, body repair by full speed, in parallel of pleasant trifles I think. Put in wheel tires (front 205/55R16 and rear 215/55R16)

We do rear arches wider, than native since wheels come out decently

Throughout work on a rear apron and a result on wheel arches. Native repair arches were used, but we wrenched them a little outside

Since the bumper from Senator A1, it from one wheel arch to other wheel arch goes. Its ends are a part of arches (visually)

Today there was a good day because here that I did

Certainly the general height on side panels (an apron will bend with a stock) will still be corrected. Corners everywhere more correct become, everything will be welded and will take a final form. Initially it looked here so

Unrelated - I always thought it was a shame that the VN didn't end up with the digital dash from the Senator, at the same time though I can understand why they didn't go ahead with it - the VK Calais had a digital dash 4 years before the VN - and while it looked great, it was nothing but trouble.

Either way, looks like a good project, very interesting seeing all the similarities and differences between the Rekord and the early Commodores.
