Default VH 202 - First car build

Hey guys, This is my first car and its currently a work in progress. Cost us $600 and was actually going to be a demo derby car before we saved it.
    Some specs:
    81 VH SL
    Rhone Green
    Blue 202
    Auto

    Only mods are:
Lowered (front only - dont ask, previous owner)
    2.5" straight through exhaust
All I've really done so far is the Interior resprayed with vinyl die - satin black and a few other little things.

    PICS:

    The day i got it^

    Dash painted^

    Photoshopped goodness

Wow that dash looks the goods mate, love the photoshop too. Are you planning any other mods to the engine, I rekon a 3.8l V6 would top it off nicely.

Cheers guys. New carpet will be ordered as soon as I sell my bike. At first I absolutely hated the colour but it really is growing on me. It needs to be resprayed as there is dents all over the doors and the roof has faded and there is some rust here and there. As for engine mods, I dont think I will bother, maybe a new carby and dress it up a bit, but would rather just fiddle with ratios. If I end up keeping it then I would like to put a blown 8 in her.

    cheers for the replys.

    What i used:

As with any paintjob, PREPERATION cannot be stressed enough! Ive learnt this the hard way many times before.

    Step one:
After removing the interior piece from the car, First wash with warm soapy water ( bucket filled with warm water and dishwashing liquid is what i used)
    and allow to dry.

    Step two:
Grab your Wax and Grease remover and apply as you would a polish almost. Then with a seperate DRY cloth, wipe the remover off before it drys away.

    Step three:
Painting time. Find the cleanest/ least dusty place you can find to paint.

    Step four:
Applying coats evenly, paint as many coats as desired (I have done 4-5 coats each panel) I felt i get best results by doing a thin first coat followed by several heavier coats. Leave around 20 mins between coats.

    Step five:
Leave to dry overnight, Putting it all back together the next day.

    Hopefully that helps.

BURK_POP, I bought my paint and wax&grease remover (prepsol) from supercheap, so any autobarn/ auto 1 etc. should stock it. Its around $15 a can and the cleaner is definately worth it.

What part of the dash are you looking at painting? For the centre console to be silver, You would be better off sanding it back and using an acrylic paint (normal spray can) as it is a flat surface. Painting that silver would go against a black dash very well me thinks.

What colour silver? like dark or light. I dont think dark would make a diff but a lighter silver would stand out.

You can spray ur engine easy like the plates and cover, just view on my project webpage part 2 doesn't take long and ther both easy things to remove.

Il ike your silver dash to thats nice, i have one myself , i havent seen many around .. seen more wood grain in my time then silver.

You can hunt for air cleanr stickers on ebay, thats how i got mine
