    Default 83 VH commy wagz

    Name: Brad
    Model: 1983 vh vacationer wagon
    Colour: blue
Engine Type: half a blue 202
    Engine Mods: none
    Power: not much
    Exhaust: none
Gearbox: 3 speed trimatic (with a locked up tourquey )
    Diff: 3.08:1
    Brakes: factory
    Suspension: factory
    Wheels/Tyres: couple of flatties, 14" and 15"s
    Interior: half missing
    Other Mods: clear indecators.
    Stereo: zilch atm
Future Mods: respray, vk mirrors, dark tinted windows, new diff, new rear brake line, new seats, new carpet, new rear shockers, new tyres, silver piggies. there's a sh!tload more i just cant think of many more atm

i did have this in this section a while ago but cant find it.

Anyways im trying to get the regency defect off of it and it needs a bit of work as she's a retired SKiD car (only made it to one comp tho haha, but we scored 3rd outta the six's).

neways ill throw up some pics.

    in it's former glory

after a while in the sun the paint went even worse (wasnt very good to start with), so we gave it a quick respray for the burnout comp. (it got the regency before then, thats when we decided to make it into a burnout car)

    still got wet paint.

    the next morning

    at the burnout comp

how it sits now is not pretty as we resprayed it in enamel (enough said?). so im gunna respray it once the defects off (just incase it doesnt come off). ive put a vk dash in it, and soon hopefully pull the motor out, change the diff and put a good rear brake line in. i need to change seats and carpet and take off my racing pedals, put on another bonnet and a few other things then hopefully get the defect off.

ill get some pics of how it sits now maybe tomorra or within the next couple of days.

the driverside window is cactus, it use to work but it would go up on an angle and it just got worse. sometimes it couldnt go up at all so we put it up and jammed some crap in there so it would fall down or nefink. does neone know how hard it is to change the window mechanism? ive gotta few spares so i figured id have a go.

So the goal is to get her up to scratch and get the defect off it. and then respray it and make it look puurdy.

Yeah that paintjob was a a real qwik dodgy one. Gave the car a light sand, washed it, taped it up and painted haha....only used 2 pots of paint on the whole car

It's faded now and peeling in a fair few spots....so when we paint it again it's gonna take lot of work. It's going white to match my wagon. So the 'KerrBros' will both have white commy wagons

Here's a pic I took about 2-3 months ago. The only changes is our yards a fraction cleaner and the wagon is pushed back a bit more haha.

This weekend we're dumping the old PEAKN6 VK and the roadster....take them out to the scrap man and see if we can get $50 for them haha. Then we can do a few rubbish trips which are waaaaay overdue!!

well today i went out and had a play with the driverside window mechanism in the wagz (it was cactus), it was bent and had teeth missing off the gears. so i pulled the one out of my vk's door and put it in and now she's all good. i was expecting it to be a headfcuk but it was pretty easy, only took bout an hour. i'm proud of myself now.
i was originally going to pull the door off but had a bit of trouble, so i gave up and thought it couldnt hurt to have a play with it, i mean i could'nt've made it ne worse, so im glad i didnt now.

put the retractable seat belts in today outta my vk. tomorra i might pull the seats out if i get a chance ready to change the carpet.

does ne one know if it would be better just putting the carpet over the old one or just rip it out? i figured it couldnt do any harm and it might feel a bit better.

Depending on the layer of carpet i guess and how thick it is and if it will go into place with the old carpet.. If you want to to look nice, then u might take ur time ripping out the old and installing the new

Goodluck bro, sounds like great progress!

nice man, shouldnt the carpet just lift off after the seats & console and a few other peices come off, i changed my vk carpet bout 2-3 months ago and it was fine, just came off without a prob once everything was out of the car.

btw ive been lookin but ive never been able to find any pics of that roadster, did u put ny up or were they lost in the forum crash?

I chucked some up of the roadster a while ago, but yeah rekon they went when the forum shat itself.

    Here's a few for ya.

And here's the latest pic...it's up like this so we could weld a few bars in underneath to strengthen it.

We've decided to strip wats left and scrap it. We haven't got the right gear (a mig) to be able to finish it properly. Maybe oneday we might try a roadster again, but at the moment it's just taking up room in the yard and we're doing a fair bit of work on both wagons and PEAKN6. We haven't touched the roadster in months...well actually Brad cut the new apron off the front the other day which I welded on when I sprayed the engine bay.....but yeah no room or time for it at the moment so it's gotta go.

Here's a pic of the old PEAKN6 getting loaded onto the truck yesterday morning. (This is in Street Commodores Issue 131 in the readers rides bit...the latest mag to date with the red VL on the front)

Also, we pulled the motor out of the blue wagon yesterday. It was rebuilt some time ago so we're gonna clean it up and put it in PEAKN6 (then back in the wagon when the wagon is ready). It's on the stand out in the shed stripped down (leaving the bottom end 2gether tho)...got all new gaskets, a balancer and oil seal for it this morning, gonna go out soon and start cleaning it up.

Brad's got some new pics which he'll prolly post up when he gets home from work.

roadsta is gettin scrapped havnt got the tools for it.

not sure if u know or not but a couple of days ago we pulled the donk outta the wagz ready for the freshen up for PEAKN6 (figured i'd put it in here coz it's gonna go back in the wagz when it's ready for the road). i got some piccies wif me fone (excuse the high quality ) coz the camera had flat batteries.

anyway we replacing all the gaskets, balancer and then paint her up and make it look pretty, then take out the old motor from PEAKN6 and bolt the manny tranny to the new donk and drop her in. hopefully it sh!ts out atleast 80rwkW. we're gunna take it to the Jamestown show on monday (well thats the plan neways), LMG are gunna have a dyno there so we figured we may as well get it put on and see what it does with the new motor

    anyways here's some pics

    head gettin degreased

motor straight outta the wagz (head wasnt bolted on)

the old balancer looking a lil bit shagged. the pulleys stuffed it up when they were bolted on

and it rubbed against the timing cover (good thing it didn't make it to the pad again, could've been interesting)

just a few things for it

after (VHPirie) scraping the carbon and crap off the top of the pistons we noticed that they're 40thou over, yippee never had nefin bigger than a 202

the motors bout 80% done. just need oil pump, dizzy, balancer, thermostat and housing and water pump put on and then i think its time for paint. once we get the donk out of the car we can then take the new one off the stand and bolt up the flywheel n clutch then the tranny and finally the starter motor. the exaust and intake can be done in the car.

bought some new batteries for the camera too

hopefully not long now, i can feel the stallions trying to get out

we're just hoping that it's gunna run alright wif the injection setup on it.

Took about 5 mins to clean the carbon off the top of the pistons, and even less to clean in the chambers. I used a wire wheel in the drill, it come up a treat.

cheers mate. this was the spare motor tho so it didnt really matter how long we took, we just set ourselves a deadline coz it makes it more interesting and exciting.

all u need is an engine stand, a block and some spare room in ya shed then go from there, start gathering parts

That 202 looks real tidy in the flat black, good work. Did you get it dyno'd? Keen to know what you made mate.

hopefully we can get the engine out of the car today, then possibly have it in and running sometime tomorra.

the motor hadnt been dyno'd before that we know of so we're only comparing it to the one thats in the car now which pulled 75rwkw

the paint is just VHT heatproof stuff. not cheap at (i think) $18, but luckily for me i work at an auto joint so get staff discount, bout $8 or $10

Nah haven't had it dyno'd yet. The last time we got PEAKN6 on the dyno was a few weeks ago and the guy said it's time to rebuild the motor coz one cylinder is lazy and it's gettin worn out....so we thought we'd clean up one of our spare motors, put it in PEAKN6 and take it to the Jamestown Show coz the guy we go to for our dyno runs is there doin the dyno shootout, so we're gonna enter it in the comp HAHA...not to win, just to see wat this motor pulls.

It was rebuilt a few years back, and it's got 40thou over pistons, alloy timing gears, and yeah it had all new rings and bearings. It had a few oil leaks tho so that's why we pulled it down. We replaced all the gaskets, cleaned the carbon off the top of the pistons, in the head chambers, then put it all back together with the new gaskets.

The paint we used was VHT engine stuff.....altho now that I think of it the exhaust will prolly peel it off coz the exhaust gets hotter. But that's ok coz they're just my spare EFI extractors, the ones we'll be using are in PEAKN6 so we might buy some exhaust paint and spray them ones up b4 the motor goes in.

We've given ourselves a week (pulled the spare motor out last Sunday) to clean up the spare motor, then change it over into PEAKN6, and while the motor is out of PEAKN6 we're gonna clean up the engine bay a bit b4 the new one goes in.

Monday morning we leave to go to Jamestown with a local car club, so we gotta have her runnin b4 then. If it doesn't run for some reason, we'll prolly take Mum's VX over so we can still be a spectator

Well it's nearly time to put the motor in. We've spent the last few hours cleaning up bits, painting them and chucking them on. We're bout to take the motor off the stand and sit it on the floor so we can bolt the flywheel and clutch on, then the tranny will go in, then we'll drop it in the engine bay, then call it a night.

Hopefully shouldn't take no longer then an hour or so.

The extractors that were in PEAKN6 turned out to be cactus, the no1 pipe was split all around the bottom, only just holding on....so mine will be goin on. We've got it booked in to get the exhaust welded up 2morrow, so hopefully we can have it running b4 2morrow lunchtime

Well we didn't end up getting the motor in 2night. It's all ready, trans bolted up and it's hanging from the block and tackle ready to drop in, just got a few things in the engine bay to clean up while the motor is out then it can go in. We decided to come up inside bout 1.30am so we can get a few hours sleep in and get up early to continue.

well the motors in and running like a dog, but hey atleast its running

it took a while to fire but then we realised we couldve put the dizzy in 180deg out so after lots of playin we turned the dizzy a bit and then it started to fire, so turned it a bit more and b4 ya know it she was running, like a dog but still running.

it was running heaps rough, rough enough that Danny pulled 2 leads off and it didnt make a difference. the leads werent the best so we changed em but still ran like a dog. i changed the plugs of the 2 cylinders that werent firing and it ran alot better, so soon we're gunna have another play and see if we can play with the timing a little and get it puring like a kitten.

the pics dont do the motor any justice, it doesnt look as good in the pics.

we need to get some brass fittings to replace the hoses that we blocked up
and im gunna paint the air filter too, we ran out of paint so ill get some more
