hey guys my nan recently told me she is going to be leaving me her VH SL/E
this car has only had one female owner (and because of her age) never thrashed this thing in its entire life. it has also been garaged most of its life and to my knowledge doesent even have 50 thousend on the clock yet
the interior is in mint condition not much else needs to be said
the engine im guessing would be in great condition (maybe a few cobwebs seeing as it hasent been driven in over a year due to my nans health.
my dad said that the car had a 253 in it (sorry if thats wrong guys i dont exactly remember and i only recently became interested in cars) i do know that it is a v8 but not a 308
this car is in mint condition and has absolutely no modifications done to it
i was just wondering how much this would be worth on the market. i would love to keep this car for myself however due to new laws coming in i am unable to drive this car on my [P]'s (sadly) thanks for all your help guys if you need any further information please dont hesitate to ask
i would show pics if i had the car in my posession its at my nans atm
about an hour or so away. its going to be a bit of trouble getting it down to my house because it has not been started in over a year it needs a new battery and i was told to be very careful starting it for the first time and even driving it for a while. when i speak to her next im going to ask if i can take it home with me and use it as my [L]'s car (yes thats right.. im 17 and have a mint VH SL/E thats luck for ya)
ill probly make a new thread in the right section once i get my baby home and safe
thanks for the heads up madvx
wot colour is the car? if you do sell it someone will snap it up sooo quick
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
Yep agree, change at least the engine oil, pull the coil lead off and crank it over for a while to lube it up, check the oil level in the gearbox after it's warmed up and add some if it needs it, other wise it will slip (assuming its a trimatic). It's value will depend a little bit on it's paint job. If it's a two tone It's probably worth 6k or so light blue/silver, dark blue/silver and green/silver (the rarest) seem to be worth a little more than red/silver but all the two tones go for more than the single colours every time. Maybe more depending on just how mint it is. But with these cars they are worth what someone will pay. Many scammers might offer you 3 or 4 grand but if you resist long enough someone who truely wants the car will pay what it takes to get it out of your hands. I have a fairly clean but alonnnnnnng way from mint 202 VH SLE with 220,000ks on it, I've been offered 2 grand for it several times now and it's never been advertised. For me that's it's not even worth thinking about selling at that price so for now I keep it. OOps I postedbut I like sle's
definately baby it for awhile i to love vh sl\e's and am currently rebuilding one
the problem with having a grandma own a 253 or a 308 is they like to be revved especially when running it in or it will never be as good as it could be. it wont be impressive with power until you rebuild it. (my dad had a 253 and my uncle had 2 308's all sl/e's wish they kept 1 4 me!)
yeah, that's a real good idea, let's all rev the ring out of motors while running them in....................
Yeah I'd hang onto it rather than sell it... but I'd learn to drive in something else first for a year or two...
Most young guys inevitably have a prang in their first car and it would be such a shame to write off such a nice car !

probly 4k if its mint
yer 4-5k sounds bout right
I know this is an old thread but i have to say something. If ya nan wont be getting a new car, leave it at her place for as long as you can,in the years to come any SL/E will be harder and harder to find. You now have a mint one which is near impossible to find today. Most these days are hotted up or run off the road by d**kheads. If they follow the path of current old holdens, which dont come cheap now, you'll be laughing in 5-10years as more disappear.A car like your VH SL/E will only grow in value as the years drag on.
