I have a November 1978 made VB SL/E,making it one of the first commodores EVER made,though im sure there was alot made in the first month.
It is a really nice car and has from the factory
LSD
5.0L V8
Power windows
Air con
4wheel disc brakes
Headlight washers and wipers
It seems to have an alarm which i have no idea if its factory or not
It also has buttons inwhich i dont have the faintest idea of what they do

Plan is to slowly restore it,for that i need to,
Completely repaint it(factory colour is racing green)
Fix some rust
Clean out brake system
Replace small things inside and out
And not much else,goal is to have it in show room condition and put it in shows

There is a way of telling on when your VB was built. Its on the plate with all the ADRs stamped on it.
Oh if yours is a factory 308/auto TH combo, its commonly called a "310" pack SL/E

Where it has "VB COMMMODORE",Look under "VB".It has 78 directly below it

Looking at the number myself, looks to be your VB is 5042S, the 5042 built VB, made in Sydney.

ohh now im with you.I was hoping was in the top 100 built,still not bad,i was only beaten by 4900 odd cars.I went out to have a look and got this

Now im confused,i was told by the bloke who used to own my VB that it was Racing green before his son in law changed it to white,now the the research ive done is saying the paint code is Polaris White.Can any1 tell anything else about the colour other then its white.

I'm not good with paint codes. Best thing to do is write the number down and take it to an automotive paint shop and ask them.

Reason why i ask is that as you can see,my car is white now,but what you cant see(unless i wonder outside and take another pic) is that it has a blue tinge running through it.

Lucky, i have a book here with a handfull of Holden paint codes, and the 30521 has come up with Polaris White.
