I stumbled across this last weekend and had to buy it.
This is my 79 vb sl/e totally stock and all original untouched. it runs a 253 trimatic with the standard open center disk brake rear. has all original wheels including the spare.
Overall the car is in pretty good condition with a few small dents and a badly bent drivers door but only has a small spot of rust in the boot rubber channel and in the spare wheel well right below the hole in the boot lip.
The paint however is showing all its 29 years with bad fadingand thinning on the roof and boot lid but genrally not to bad everywhere else. interior is average with stuffed carpet and wrinkly door trims but has near perfect seats and hoodling.
Futre plans include and upgrade to a worked 308 with turbo 700 trans, lsd, bigger front brakes, full suspension upgrade, repaint and possible retrim.
anyway heres some pics.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!

Well i got a bit of a surprise and a good laugh this morning, upon purchase we noticed the motor was making a noise at the front after quickly ruling out it was water pump, air, steer, and alternator we came to the conclusion that it was the timing chain either rubing on timing case or just rooted.
So this morning i take the timing case off to replace the chain and this is what we found (take note this is a stock engine obvious by the 2 barrel carb)
needless to say we had a good laugh, who the hell puts a dual idler straight cut gear set in a stock 253!!
2 more interiur shot allright condition, new carpet and find a better consul sports wheel and a good clean she should be alot better.

Looks good trev, the straight cut gears must be givin that the wow factor eh
Have u takin it for a spin yet....
Wonder what other goodies it got hiding in there.
thats it im getting a razor blade out and that sticker is gone lmao.
nah no spin yet was to worried about the noise but now once its back together ill see how she goes. Looking at other parts i highly doubt its done the 244k thats on the clock but i dont think it would be much more than a stock reco. might lift the heads in a few weeks and see whats inside.
sounds like fun.Should run good if its a reco

tidy SLE mate keep the updates coming
Is that the same colour as the VH "Ice Green Metallic"? we had a VH SL/X in that colour from new and it was a very nice paint, you don't see it around much now. What's the wheel off a VL?
looks good mate..love the early girls...
Its pretty close to "ice green" but i think its jade i did look it up but forgot what it is lol. Im pretty sure the wheel is the original one for the car, but that goes next week as its stuffed i have ordered a autotechnica 3 spoke woodrim with a black center should look ok in the i think.
I have been doing a bit of work here and there on it over the last week it now runs again with the new timing chain and also gained a new set of shocks all round, it was going to be lowered but decided just to do whats needed for roady so i can get to work when the missus goes back from maternity leave then get all the bits i need and do it properly with adjustable bearing plates panhard and all that. any way that all thats been done so far but shouldnt be long untill the next round of updates.
nice to see ur taking good care of it

Sweet - even has (one) headlight wipers
lol isszy i have 2 full sets all bar the clips to hold the head on (well i have one) i am going to take them off until i find those ever elusive clips. i got few bits this weekend that it was missing and it now has new discs and pads all round and new front wheel bearings, also has new trim under the headlights and i have polished all the rest of the chrome trims and they all come up like new. now all i have to do is fix the exhaust and shes roadworthy again.
