Default The SL/E Fanatic, 2 SL/Es owner.

Hi all. I did have a thread on here before but, there was a stuff up, so, here is another go at this.

First SL/E, the rare one
VB SL/E, commonly called a "308" pack.
Sandlewood Beige Metallic paint
Buckskin "crushed" velour and vinyl interior
Red 308/5 litre V8
M21 4 Speed manual, Australian design and built
3.08:1 Heavy duty Salisbury diff.

It does have aftermarket wheels, Auscar Thunder Spoke rims i think.
Gabrial shocks and Lovell heavy duty "blue" springs.
Some piccys of the beast

Has low ks

Very clean velour headlining

Interior lights

And last, headlight wiper action

The other SL/E, 2T0NE
VC SL/E, a "330" pack, the base SL/E
Factory Aztec Silver, has a blue/grey top half
Carmine velour interior, faded on the seats
Blue 202/3.3 Litre inline 6
3 speed Trimatic gearbox
2.78:1 open centre 6 banger diff.

Has some stuff thats no longer factory. But, it does have the standard VB/VC SL/E alloy wheels. This will be a project of mine, it will be ages before i start on it however!.
Piccys.

Enjoy you SL/E fans.

Oh, i should of pointed out, that there is 100 VB SL/E 308/M21 factory Commodores built, 50 with the 2.60:1 diff and another 50 with 3.08:1 diff. So, the factory 308/M21 VB SL/Es are getting thin on ground.
Other things on the VB SL/E i might ad here.
1. The diff has been replaced, due to the old one snapping the pinion shaft inside the LSD.
2. The power steering has just been changed over. It still had the original 1979 one in it!.

One day, the VB will get a resto.

And that VB will be worth a fortune. It'll be nice if they follow the likes of the old Monaro's which are worth a pretty penny

I have seen a nice, clean, rust free VB SL/E 310 pack sell for $10000 just a while ago. If it was manual, the insurance said to me, $15000 wouldn't be bad, $20000 for a low K, everything is original one.

10-20k is reasonable though but when you talk in the range of the old monaros there are in the hundreds of thousands. maybe in 30+ years will they get pretty high but it would need to be something as rare as yours.

i bought mine(VB) for $1000 as it is now about a year ago.
it will cost another 5-7k to bring it back to factory which will take up to 3 years once i do start fixing up the parts that cost the most.So far new paint job will be the worst at about 3k,unless its a full respray which will cost much more. After that i will to put it in shows and hopefully win an award or 2.By then 10 years should have passed making it a 40yo off the showroom condition car.Maybe most of the commodores buit before mine (all 5048 of them) would be gone making mine closer to being the oldest around.

keep it in good nick it will grow in value thats for sure. sl/enut's vb will be worth more than the average due to what it is, it is in good nick now and i am envious, i love the buckskin trim its way better than green( i hate green which is only thing i hate about mine) but i have to say green is better then red.

i have a question for u too sl/enut, did the vb sl/e's come out with a 6 or where they 253 as standard.
