Is it a pollution head? If so, i'm thinking A9X, VC HDT, VH SS Group III 308s. These would not be from a standard VB-VH 308

I'm not sure, I am from the torana forum and the guys think its from a 79 vb commodore of some type hi pro??? thats why I signed up with you guys thought I'd have a better chance of finding what these heads are from?
now I have a 74 L34 head that has a simular 'X' cast on it so I'm very certian its a geniune casting and not a fake.
but the dates (11th 1978) are throwing us on what it could be from.
VB 253/308 i think from the general consensus on other websites do they have the U-shaped EGR port

well you say its a 1978 cast jobbies, i'm thinking A9X or Kingswood. These aren't from a VB Commodore, they never had a hipo 308(pity!). These are like B cast heads, built before them.

I dunno about the part number, i'll have a look tomorrow night. The 11th month 78 is in the VB era, but there was still HZ Kingers and the alike still getting built.

L34 Head. That style was the performance version right up to the Brock "B" cast items of the mid 80's. Prob the 2nd best of the early style heads behind the "B" cast. VN type whips them all. VN "D" ports are the best stock head you will get.
Reaper
yeah i think so it will be a pollution head

Now its a pollution head, its not from a L34. Certainly looks to be off a 1978 era V8. As for the part number, ain't in my VB-VK Parts catalogue. I'll look into my other Holden V8 history book, when i find it.

Ok, been looking about, the EGR port is a HX-VH spec item but the X cast is a L34 spec. I think someone has been playing around with a welder!.

i have a 202 head with what looks like a factory X cast into the back of it? any ideas?
also a mate has a 308 and the block is cast 308x any ideas on that?
What's the engine number prefix on the block and what's the head part number?
I have a set of X cast heads in my VB now. They have large valves, maybe been fiddled with though. What i have been told, they maybe a no frills 253/308 heads or hipo 308 heads, depending on part numbers.
