Gday,
I was driving to work when my wipers stopped working. Could see anything with out them and with all this fricking rain up here in Brisbane I need to get them back online pronto. I think my wiper motor has gone but im not the best when it comes to electrics. I have checked the fuse box, didnt find any burnt out. I felt the wiper motor after turning on the ignition and then wipers for a bit and it was warm so there must be current going through but maybe its just not turning.
Most likely I think I need a new motor, is it easy to replace?
If anyone out there has an idea to what could be wrong i would love to know.
Cheers
easy-as to replace. from memory its three bolts holding it in place then some fiddle clips and a plug.
check your dwell switch. the little round one on the left of your steering weel cos those are a archillies heel. just move it back and forth a few times. its worth a go. worked for me once.
the plug for the motor is easy to get to. use a test light on it with the motor switched on to see if its getting power. if you dont have a test light buy one. they are about 10 bucks and almost as useful as a vacuum guage.
if there is power all the way up to the motor, then you have a problem. if not you gotta find out where its stopping. fuse/switch then wiring would be my order of inspection.
good luck
Yes it was too easy to fix in the end. I recommend not trying to take just the engine off...waste of time as i found out. Keep the whole wiper motor assembly together including the scissor arms that join onto the wiper arms. there are 2 bolts to take off there, an earth wire and a plastic plug. Whole thing will side out easily.
Thanks for your advice too ari666!
