There are kits available from CRS , Mel Woods etc.

I'm doing a VK, main stumbling block is relocating the starter to the pasenger side of the engine, just not enough room for steering, starter and exhaust on the drivers side.

We have a local who has just put together a starter relocation kit, useing a jap diesel starter with a reduction drive to suit the LS1 and a bolt on mounting bracket, (no sandwitch plate or welding lugs on block) for $550 so will be going with that.

I am useing a VN V6 crossmember and steering rack (straight bolt in) gives more space for drivers side header and sump. Will be useing V6 mounts and will make my own brackets from Block to engine mounts.

Headers are the hard part, not much room to squeeze them in, I will prob take a set of headers and chop them round to fit, may look at 5 ltr headers and just chop the flanges and weld on LS1 flanges (port spaceing is identical) or maybe even chop some VE HSV headers, they look to be a shorty design which could be adaptable.

Gearbox mount should't be too hard to knock up, driveshaft will need to be shortened.
I will be going auto so no clutch hydraulics to worry bout.

The other costly part is sorting the instruments, speedo in particular, either a elecronic to manual speedo adaptor or swap cluster to electronic speedo, revcounter etc.

Fuel system- will be putting a VN fuel tank in(again just a boltin) with an intank Walbro pump and an external fuel pressure regulator.

Radiator - not sure yet ! either a VK V8 which has similar layout to VT-VY or there are some VK to chev radiators available with outlets similar to VZ, which will allow battery to stay put intake and air filter on drivers side.
