I have a vc commodore, varajet II carbie, 3.3 blue motor and a new fuel pump. The carbie has just been reconditioned too. if left for 3 or 4 days, the engine cranks but won't start. it's like there isn't any fuel in the carbie. but then when the carbie gets fuel in it then it will start. does anyone have any suggestions, help or advice that would maybe help me out???? Thanks.
it's only first thing after a couple of days. there is plenty of spark, new spark plugs so no problem there. any other time, it starts fine. thanks.
Cracked or blocked fuel filter or lines? Could it be sucking air from anywhere?
new fuel filter, will check the lines tomorrow. will also check if there is an air leak anywhere. do you think it could be the stop solenoid on the carbie? could that be getting stuck?
hubby changed the solenoid on tuesday, and it worked better this morning. will try to start again in a few days to see if this fixed the problem. will let you guys know what happens. thanks again everyone.
the solinoid only blocks the idle jet to stop running on when you turn the key off.the petrol will just be evaporating away especially when stopped hot then left a few days takes a few turns of the crank for the pump to fill the bowl again before it will start.also check the 2 dranin screws under the carby bowl they may be weaping fuel
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
gaskets in the fuel pump could be shot and lettin the fuel evaporoate...
hey guys, all i can say is that hubby swapped the idle stop solenoid and it seems to have fixed the problem. went to start the car today and the fuel was still in the carby and started on the first go. not bad hey??? thanks for all suggestions they were really helpful. if someone has the same problem, can you try suggesting this solution?? anyway, thanks again.
an update!!! hubby started the car again today and it started first go. I think we have finally fixed the problem. the old solenoid was sticking and it seems that by replacing it has fixed the problem. once again, thanks for all help and suggestions.
