Default single black wire to trimatic

i cant find my frikken commodore manual anywhere

anyways, anyone know what the single balck wire does that goes to a V8 trimatic? the plug is loose and the little pin it clips onto pushes into the box. i had to get my pliers out twice to get it out.

wondering if it is absolutely necessary or just some stupid dash warning light.

p.s. my reverse lights work fine as does the neutral safety lock with it off.

    cheers

high speed kick down, as opposed to the vacuume kickdown which occurs automatically. When you floor ir, the pedal pushes a switch which activates a solenoid through that wire.

ok, diggin up old threads, but CBF making a new one.

is there any way of tweaking the trmatic so it drops down gears more regularly. i have low vac (due to cam shaft), stall converter and shift kit and i am sure that one of those things is messing with my down-shifting.

i have to do it manually and my girlfriend alsways gets that "oh my god your about to kill me" look whenever my hand goes anywhere near the t-bar, so i want it to happend by its self.

    cheers

well after laying in that position, (you know the one, feet on the ground, back in an arch with the seat digging right into your spine staring up underneath the dash?) for a while, i figured it out. thanks delcowiz, its all in the accelerator pedal, i never really took much time to study the pedal itself, but its pretty stupid.

anyways, its in the cable, you're right. i had to wind out all the way in the engine bay, reset the starting point of the pedal and then get in and out of the most painful position a human can take, to get it spot on because if you have too much cable the switch stops any further acceleration, and too little doesnt switch it over.

in fact i actually got a little more opening out of my secondarys cos' i wasnt aware there was any adjustment on the pedal itself, thought it was all in the engine bay.

very good afternoons work, im off to have a beer now

it did help, totally changes the way the car operates now if you put your foot down. b4 was like... foot flat, wait... wait ...wait ...then it drops to second once the vac kick down engaged, now it kicks to first straight away. its a bit dangerous actually, might have to take it a bit easy on the pedal.

but no to the 20KWs sadly, cos i have since replaced the 750 Vac secondarys (it went on the dyno with) with my old 650 double pumper and 1 inch spacer. the spacer was the thing messing with it, cos' the carby sits higher and the cable had to go 'up' slightly it needed more free play to get it around the last little bit of 'curve' if that makes sense.

but yeah, anyone reading this check your little slidy-switch thing, although it hurts to look at and adjust, when its setup right it helps heaps.
