    Question Master cylinder

i need some help with my brakes. the vh project currently has the standard 15/16 master cylinder and rubber lines at the wheels. i have heard a lot of people talking about dramatic improvements from simply swapping to a 1 inch mastercylinder and braided lines. simple and cheap. problem is, i have no idea which models had the larger cylinder to ask at wrecking yards or even find one new. does anyone know? has anyone done this? i also heard that fitting a vt cylinder works to but i thought the majority of these have ABS and i don't think this would work.

I don't think braided lines are much of an improvement. A car mag tested them once and when it comes to improving ur brakes, the braided lines just don't do much at all. Might be a different story if u got 6 pot calipers and brakes which use a lot more force.

I bought a 1" master cylinder the other day, paid about $70 all up. Prolly a bit steep, but I was happy to pay that. There was a guy in Adelaide who I was suppose to be buying a 1" master cylinder and booster off of for $50, but he never replied to PM's and wouldn't get postage prices etc etc....so I just stopped asking about it and bout this other one.

To find one, I guess you'll just have to go to the wrecking yard and ask for one. Mine come off of a VL V8. But not all V8's had them. All of our 253 cars still had 15/16, and my VQ Stato 5.0L wreck had 15/16....so it wasn't on all V8's.

All VN-P V8's will have the 1 inch master. Seems like some or all VQ's didn't to try and keep the pedal more.... Luxurious :P

VL Turbo cars had the 1" master cylinder. I just replaced the unit on my VL Berlina Turbo and paid $200 trade for a brand new PBR OEM through Holden. I don't muck around with second hand or aftermarket no-name gear on my VL when it comes to playing with or stopping a 500hp car
