Default Changing VH Wagon Rear Springs ?

I need to change the springs in my wagon, as the mechanic told me one was rusted and damaged, he told me all i need to do is jack the car up, lower it onto some stands, let the diff hang down and "pop" them out and the new ones in.

Is it this easy ? or do i need a spring compressor ?

I am soon to do mine, and it's not that hard. I would get a spring compressor just incase before you start this, save you the hassle if it does not come out as easy as it might.

Yeah it's easy changing them by dropping the shocks. Only thing I'd add, is when u put the car on jack stands, put the jack under the diff to support it while u undo the lower shock bolts. Then when they're out, lower the jack down, and ur springs should be able to be pulled out easilly. Then put ur new springs in, jack the diff back up, but the shock bolts back in and ur all done.

once again, very good advice danny

if you dont do it this way the diff will drop down very quickly and stop roughly when the panhard rod grabs and the diff flys sideways a bit. trust me, you dont wanna be under the car when that happens. mine was halfway up on a hoist and my mate was under the car. you shoulda seen how fast he slid out i laughed for frikken ages.
