Greetings all, i've got a bit of a head scratchier here.
My VK Exec won't start, the other day it was being driven on the fortnightly shopping run when it let lose a massive back-fire and lost all engine power. Since then me and my mate have gone through the motions and have come up with no obvious problems and every attempt to start it ends with the battery draining, any suggestions or advice would be greatly appropriated.
Turn the ignition on and see if you havefuel pressure you can press a pin on a valve on the front of the fuel rail.
Next if you have fuel, pull a lead off and check for spark
Next pull an injector plug off and fit a 12v 3w light bulb tot he injector plug and see if it flashes when you crank the engine.
lso probably best to check for spark prior to checking for fuel pressure you dont want to ignite the fuel you spray in the engine bay

Check if the valve in the airflow meter can move easy without getting stuck...
Thanks for the tips mate.
I've checked for spark and fuel pressure, it got a strong spark and full pressure.
Injector test was also good.
I'm waiting on a mate to lend me the equipment.
OK, here's the latest.
I managed to get it running for 10-12 seconds but it was running really rough and stalls whenever i put the foot down, when it was running for those few seconds it was blowing flames about 5 inches out the throttle body. (An awesome sight but that's not important.)
Any ideas?
I would say timing first, block off the vac advance hose as well. Next if timing is ok AFM would be the issue

im thinking AIR FLOW METRE as indication of running lean
loosen off the dizzy and turn it. you will need a timing light.
Problem solved, turns out it was a dodgy rotor button that was causing all the grief.
