    Minor changes to wheels
Wheels up to 26mm wider than the largest optional wheel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the
vehicle can be fitted without the need to notify the RTA.
The biggest/widest standard wheels on the VK were 15x6 inches i believe? therefore legally the widest wheel you can fit without getting it engineered is 7 inch. The above document states that if your vehicle is post-1973 built and weighs more then 1201Kg then the maximum width you can get engineered is 51mm wider then standard, so 8 inch.

There are also Wheeltrack/offset limits which are rather conservative (25mm).
