On ebay at the moment.
Looks like a very nice unit.
Your thoughts?

But I intend to sell one I do have.
11/78 sandlewood/buckskin base model with 'Auto' option package with 3.3, auto, dwell wiper control.
Before I ebay it wish to confirm I am reading VIN plates etc correctly.
AJF original vic rego still with original Vic Garden State’ plates.
Radiator support panel stamp AVB004331 S = Sydney Pagewood plant. No 4,3331 built?
I wonder how many built at Pagewood for non NSW markets?
VIN plate: 8K69LJH977338B =
8 = Holden manufactured (8)
Luxury: K - Commodore, SL, SL/e (K)
19 or 69 for Sedan / 35 for wagon (69)
5th character is the engine code (L)
6th character year of manufacture H -1978 / J – 1979 (J)
7th and 8th characters build plant (H9)
H1-H4 = Brisbane
H5-H9 = Sydney
J1-J9 = Melbourne
L1-L9 = Adelaide
The last is B as in the model code VB
So the VIN says 1979 yet Safety Compliance Plate says 11/78…why mismatch? Maybe right around Christmas shutdown?
The Safety Compliance Plate features a description of the vehicle along with the chassis number (e.g.: AVB004331S) which match radiator support panel stamp.
VIN body number (977338)and the Body and Option identification plate match.
Trans M40 = Trimatic.
Engine L4 = 3.3Hi Comp
Diff GU4 = standard banjo? Ratio?
The compliance plates location are not in order as per Holden books but I have photos of other 10/78 and 11/78 examples that match mine.
I don’t think mine have been tampered with. Your thoughts?
Do not have immediate access to car but I recall it had original but used spare.
As an aside was there 9/78 ones made?
Cheers Damien"SL/ENUT" Smith, The SL/E Fanatic!
A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
