If it has already started to come out it should slide all the way out . Just need to be patient and take care not to wreck the cam bearings . just keep moving it slowly till it slides through the rest of the bearings .
Cheers Mick .
HOLDEN. Not just a car . But a way of life !
It's in the blood and deep in the heart !
ok sweet ill go have another crack thnx
Try a Smear of grease on the cam
Floor it and swerve driving skool
cant get grease on it it in the engine lol trying to get the bastard out...still cant either i think its getting stuck on one of the bearings...
They can be a pain in the butt to get out . Keep trying
What makes it hard is getting the cam to line up with all the bearings at once !
Cheers Mick .

Maybe seem like a stupid question,,is the motor striped? have you also removed the oil pump and not just the distributor? you nee to completely remove the oil pump housing from the block as both oil pump and dizzy share the same drive..
Floor it and swerve driving skool
LOL goodluck with it mate yeah lifters, dizzy & oil pump then you should be right
you got a spare head bolt laying around? when your cam journels meet up with the bearings they can get nearly impossible to pull through, especially if its a newer build.
the trick is to stick a head bolt into the end of the cam to give you leverage. you need to keep the opposite end of the cam as high as you can while you twist it slighlty counter/clockwise.
with twist/pull/lift it should pop out. but ya' gotta be real nice to it cos' the bearings dont like to meet gears suddenly.
hope that helps a bit. we are talking 6 again which makes it two pistons short, but hopefully transferable
I think the fuel pump would have to come out as well.
Four commodores and counting.
and pretty sure theres a retainer behind the timing gear that you have to undo through gear by getting it in the right spot
