ok, finally found it
the answer to all your dual exhaust prayers.
on ebay for 1400 bucks. which is too much for me. but we should all ebay message him and say "stop being a twat and sell it to me for 700" and he may drop his prices![]()
I know a guy that will build you one for 700![]()
Is..that what i think it is? Surely that's not particularly intelligent...
no way that isnt it cant be well it must be orgazmic
mmm love a proper alloy drop tank they look horn as been a while since i had one of them puppies
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
yeh im stiff lol
haha you have to leave the welds on, that's what makes it strong
The guy I used to work for made some custom tanks while I was there, I'm sure any metal fab shop can weld one up for you, it's not rocket science and doesn't take a tig welder long to weld one up. Just make sure you get baffles put in it. You probably looking at 100-200 bucks worth of alloy and a couple/few hours time to make it. If you were to make one up from cardboard first so it all fits, then they would have templates to copy from and it would be easy for them
The baffles are just plates you weld inside the tank that are like a sheet of alloy with some small holes in it, enough gaps so that fuel can get past but not enough gaps that it all all escape from one side to the other when you corner, because then you get fuel surge. You would probably put 2 baffles in a tank like that. Just find a shop that makes tanks and they will know all about it. Most custom kit cars and such and even boats get tanks made all the time, you'll find that the metal shops have done a zillion of them before

The middle two lines, the outside are the walls
i dont care about alloy, i dont give a rats about welds or shiny things... all i want is a TWIN SYSTEM!!! *evil grin* 1400 is way too much tho.
greanfoam, any further clues on who can do it? 700 bucks is right on my price range, and i would rather painted sheetmetal than tig'd alloy. so that should drop costs a bit.
of course victorian based would help. lol
yeh i wouldnt mind just gettin a clean black one
just meaaged the guy asking if he could make it out of steel for cheaper.
will keep ya'll posted![]()
ah hahahaha. guess my search has started again
quote; "gday mate, sorry we dont make shit tanks or skimp on anything,to abide by adr rules i must make and sell a top quality product"
lmao, silly me for thinking a steel tank was anything but "shit". what a twat. i hate people like that. morons.
What I'm doing is buying a stainless fuel cell and mounting it in the boot so I can delete my original fuel tank to run the twin exhausts, I may even weld up a fake droptank cover just for looks, it is way cheaper this way.
aww i would love a tank but then i would have to raise my car. is it worth putting a fake one on?
yeah i had the same idea but a few problems i can forsee with doing that is;
1. you have to fill up your petrol from inside the boot and my boot springs are non-existant, so out comes the block of 4x2 pine to hold up my boot while i fill up with petrol ?!?! ...
2. all the boot space is now gone.
3. there will be a massive hole in the floor pan where the old tank would have been. dunno what that would do to wind resistance but it would most certainly whistle as you go down the freeway
4. i would need to run my fuel hoses through my boot floor to the fuel pump, as its external and needs to be below the bottom of the tank.
all in all it would be a pain in the arse really. having a tank replace your existing tank is much easier, it would hold more fuel (75 ltrs rather than the current 68) you can use your old fillerneck, and your boot space is untouched.
all i need to do is find some damn welder who can do it!!! arrrgh.
Guys I can't see why any sheet metal shop can't make you a tank for 700 bucks.. if you have it all planed out for them, It's not rocket surgery. They only need like 10 minutes on a plasma to cut out the panels, a few bends in the bending machine and then tig it all together. Weld some pipes for the fuel lines and make a hole and screw holes for the fuel gauge float thingo :0. That's it!. How many sheet metal/engineering shops exactly have you asked?. I reckon there would be at least 3 shops that could do it in my tiny little town alone
well *sheepish* in all honesty i have only asked one guy in person and one guy via email, oh does this twat off ebay count? cos' that makes three.
lol.
edit* just rang a google'd sheet metal fabricator and he said no to fuel tanks, so 4 :P
I'm putting a fuel cell in my vk.Getting a right angled neck bolted up on top of the cell then running a pipe through the back of the wheel tub to the filler hole.
Makes it legal, annoying to have it that will but only way to have it pass rego inspection.
2 Other ways to do it but I didn't like the options.
