Electrical Problem
Hey all
I have a VH Commodore Vacationer. When I have my keys on ignition but not with the car on, i have wipers and indicators but when the car actually goes, it doesnt work. Wheres the best place to start looking for this problem if its a earth issue? Also sometimes my reverse light comes on for no reason.

so just the keys in the ignition but still in the 'off' position, or ignition 'on' without the car running?
my first suggestion would be the ignition switch itself, which shuts off accesorys while its in the 'start' position, then returns them to 'on' once you let go of the key. maybe it isnt springing back all the way ?! you tried starting the car and slightly turning the key backward towards 'off' a teensie bit?
also i would guess the reverse light problem is unrelated. since its switching has nothing to do with the ignition.
i hav been experiencing same sorter issues with vacationer the other day it broke down and wouldn't even turn over. the starter motor was getting power but something wassn't working Hmmmm. as for your problem not sure could be some switch ive herd about under the wheel
found out the reverse lights come on because when the car is in neutral and trying to put the 1st/2nd gear while touching the side, its turning/flashing on... so its got something to do with that wire on the gearbox or whatever ya call it.. taking it to auto electrican today to fix it

cheers wat would you reckon id get 4 my 83 sl vacationer. the body is in great nic same with the interior. im the second owner cos i inhereadted it. its done 173,000 km's. but machanicly its needs some work not to much just a really good service basicly. and its even on duel fuel runs both gas and regular petrol.
i paid $800 for mine but also how long is your gas tank in date for ?
