Thats probably because you have a vacume guage not a tacho, you will notice the scale is in inches of mercury or Hg for short.

    cheers

    hi
its an original cluster from another vk.. same as what was in it before... the part that reads your "power" is measured in vacuum x10kPa
its not a tacho at all .. now that im looking at it it says economy, vacuum x10kpa, and under number 1 it says power and is red and as you get up through the gauge it goes from red back to white. sort of the opposite as a rev meter which goes to red as you get up higher. does this make any sense to anyone?

as vkberlina stated, it is a vacuum gauge not a tacho, and is most commonly called the useless gauge. it mainly lets you know that every thing is ok in the intake path. if it drops at idle to 2 or 3 it means you have a vacuum leak in the manifold or carb, or if it drops when breaking it can mean the booster is leaking. basically if its steady and reading about 5 or 6 at idle all ok. it's also supposed to help you monitor fuel useage, the lower the number the more fuel being used. hope this helps
