Hi All,
I have a stock 202 VK motor on straight LP gas with a 4 barrel inlet manifold, Holley 650 throttle body and Pacemaker extractors. I asked the Exhaust shop to put a 2 1/4 inch system on the car but when I came back to the shop the chap had put a 2 1/2 inch system through it. He claimed that it would run a lot better because of the performance inlet manifold. I am a little bit miffed because that's not what I'd asked for and am concerned that the motor may not have enough back pressure.
Anyone thoughts appreciated.
hey mate
You wouldnt suppose they would know what they talking about? they do deal with exhausts everyday but then again, if you requested to have 2 1/2, then they should but if anything happened, it would be at your expense but since they said 2 1/4, anything stuffs up, then its their problem
should be fine ive run many 2.5 inch systems on 202 and on my 173 works great
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
Since the car runs on LPG, 2 1/2" is better than 2 1/4". Also another point to note, back pressure is a bad thing, ideally you want absolutely no back pressure.
A 650 is a lot of carb for such a small motor! What else is done to it???

Well looks like the Exhaust guy knew his stuff and I was just getting a bit ahead of myself.
It's pretty well stock, it has an IMPCO 425 mixer on it and just uses the throttle body of the 650 and a L series converter (dedicated gas motor). It goes very nicely and has a better stoichiometric curve than a Ga$ Re$earch setup.
