Welcome To The Just Commodores Club
yeah thats sometimes common in those motors with minor oil leaks. I used to have the same issue.
are the pics still there as i cant see em ?
and whats the commodore L i have not seen just the L i no theres the slh sle and that.
The L is the base model. Next is the SL, the SL/X and then SL/E.
Where's the pics, wouldn't mind seeing a few.
g'day
Sounds like we are at similar places I have also just bought a VC commodore L . My motor will be making way for a LS2 though.. My paint is pretty good and only very minor rust under the boot lid seal. I will get mine painted.. painting in not my strength
good luck with the car . The early commodores seem to be growing in popularity
Cheers
Sean
thanks guys dont no what happen to pics.
yer im keeping the 202 in mine as its cheep to fix and stuff mite drop a 8 in one day who knows.
just doing a cheepish paint job but will look good using right stuff and that just basic job.
should have it done in 3weeks
have fixed most of rust now aswell
preping it and priming this week
rust....to root of evil, im getting a little popping on mine (bottom of doors) yeah welcome to jc if you have any questions just ask, as i have and most are willing to give any advise they know. keeping the 202 is a good idea they are tuff buggers (mine is). i also would like put put a v8 in i just need sump and pick up them its right to go in. your interior looks awesome....will you keep it white with the red?
yer red_vb staying white for now got paint today. so just have to get the body preped and prime now
window looking good now. the wether not helping me hope the sun comes out.
and there is oil leaking from the front of the motor think its the seal how hard is it to fix. my mates saying its just pulling out the seal??

yep, hit it off and hit a new one on. gotta find yourself a 'drift' toll, which is something round thatll fit over your crank and is the same size as the seal. i use a roll of gaffa tape on my V8. its the perfect size hole and big enough to smash the seal on with a nice plastic hammer.
ok thanks. i have had a better look and i think it mite be the sump gasget how hard is that to do ? will i have to jack up the engine to put new one on..... thanks
the paint is comeing along good looks sweethave missed some bits but its just to get me by sill looks good will get photos up soon when mate sends them.
cars on the road now looks good have pics just have to upload them.
car runs nice going throw the petrol done 90k and it used close to half a tank??
didnt give it that much
how much should it be useing
Mate I like your vc. Yeh get the piccys up. I have a VB L complete with vinyl seats. I think they look good. I am going to keep the interrior and body stock. What are your plans? Pete
was done with a 2.5hp compressor and a 100 gun think it come out verry well. have some things left to do as i just wanted to drive itand it has no clear on it yet.

GET THAT CAR AWAY FROM THE BEACH RIGHT NOW.
oh and nice car mate. looking realy good so far.
wasnt going to take on the beach but washed it after anyways
yer cars looking good getting service next week so that will help
and thanks all for your comments
i was only joking lol but realy good stuff so far mate.
A bit off topic our VC has very minimal rust but it has rust under the the boot rubber where the boot seals down, i am a bit reluctant to lift the rubber off in case I remove the lip the rubber sits on, any thoughts on a fix for this area, I would imagine it would be pretty expensive to have a new lip welded in. It is a pity as it is a nice clean 2 owner VC SL. It is just starting to let water drip into the boot.
If the car is in good shape then spend the money and get it fixed properly or you will regret it later.
Mine has the same rust with all 4 corners gone but i just siliconed the rubber down untill it goes in to be painted when all the rust which is stuff all will be done properly.
yer if you got the cash do that.
as the bit i did on the window will have to be redone one day its the 1st time i have done something like this so i dont now how long it will last.
sweet but yeah... get teh car away from the beach![]()
love that interior mate, its so nice!!!
Is that rust in the beaver panels and front guards?
signature was inappropriate and has been removed.
