hey
was changing the spark plugs the other day and noticed alot of carbon buildup on the plug. this means its running rich(doesn't it?)
how do i go about making it run normal (not rich)
its a black 202 carbed
thanks guys
get a vacuum guage. plug it in to the full vacumm port, put the car in D with a friend braking for you (or a block of wood between the brake pedal and seat, like i do) or neutral for manual trans. there are two mixture screws, depending on which carby you have, no idea where they are, sorry, turn one in 1/4 of a turn, then the other exactly the same amount. sit and watch the vac guage.
if the vacuum went up, try turning 1/4 turn more on both, when the vac gets unsteady or drops down then unscrew the screws till you get the highest STABLE vacuum. you need a bit of patience to do this.
realistically you would have checked everything else b4 you do that though, i.e. timing, spark gap and condition, dizzy cap, leads etc etc etc.
ok.. thanks will try that
