Easiest 5-speed gearobx to fit is the M76, more common in the Vh range from memory.

They dont like a hard time, but are quite a nice box.
If you want something to flog the absolute shit out of day after day then look at a Celica gearbox conersion though very pricey.

I wouldnt pay more then $350 for the entire M76 manual conversion gear unless it has a new clutch.

Depends how good you at throwing a spanner, and what equipment you've got.
Anywhere from 3 hours, to a couple of days lol.

Assorted lot of spanners, and scokets.
Breaker bars, extension bars, Unijonts (for the sockets) a rattle gun sure makes the job easier.
Clutch alligning tool is really the only specialised tool you will need.

i bought mine seperatly cos' with the smaller ones (10-13mm) they have a swivel head which is much better for tight spots, like child restraint anchors on parcel shelves.

as they increase size they increase price, all mine are blu-point. the 10mm was around 18 bucks, 12mm $20, 13 $25 etc etc, but as i said earlier, they are covered by a lifetime warranty, the snap on guy just takes the broken ones and swaps them, if it isnt something stupid you have done like hit it with a hammer or left it out in the rain to rust.

i have the snap on rep's number at work if you are interested, he also does apprentice finance if you have a job.

Those gearboxes are Aussie 4-speeds, they are more expensive. A tougher box but not needed,
The mc6 is the VK 4 speed box, its cheap, and a comfortable box, just not very strong.
Getting an arse VK isnt a bad idea, you will need the parts I listed above.
