ok guys i have a cam ill get the spec sheet later, yella terra heads elderbrock perfomer manifold and gas research pulled 122rwkw's now if i do anything more to the motor i need to go twin gas research which is no problem but with the lpg price's going up im thinking of scrapping the gas and dropping an ls1 or something along those lines what do you guys reackon also running a standard trimatic and a lsd Salisbury which i just blew up so if u have spares let me know![]()
depends on what you want to spend. thats the deciding factor in all of it. i would probably say just scrap the gas off your 308 and stroke it, could still use your performer manifold if u setup the motor to make power until 5500 ish rpm.
an ls1 with a baby to mid sized cam will get you 250-290 rwkws. if u really want some power go they route, just depends how much cash you have.
like the sounds of this cash is no object just takes longer to save but in the end will be worth itis there any major body mod id have to bang the beast in? ie tunnel mods i will be putting a manual in also if i go that way 5spd or 6 spd depends on whats easier to get and to suitf
hey guys just did a bit of research the rod shop has a kit for manual priced at $2338 then box and motor (6spd) approx 4500-5000 ish. how much would i be looking at for radiator fuel tank thermo fans fuel lines computers vt brake upgrade new diff ( 9" ) rebuild mild cam approx 10000 ? then in total 20000?
some crate motor ls1 come into the country with everything you need for under $6k. get on ebay and find one. i saw a patrol with a current 6.2 that cost the guy $10k and gave him reliable big power. they are out there, you just gotta look or buy a car already done.
wow for 20 10- gs u could buy another car with an ls1 and probley do up the the 308 abit more..
my advice is look at more then 1 place, u will get it cheaper! haggle helps!
ditch the gas research... if you are thinking of going ls1 your fuel bill is gonna be through the roof anyway. you need to decide which you want, cheap fuel or performance, research or not you will never get the same power from LPG that you get for petrol. true you can run your donk at a higher CR with gas, but unless you have multiple mixers you will never get a decent enough suplly to keep the mix rich and cold. even a lowly old 308 with a high lift long duration cam will need more lpg than one mixer can supply.
i say try the 308 on petrol. i got 145 out of mine with the same setup (pretty much) then you once you go NOS you will never go back
oh yeah, go NOS.
edit* how old are the yella terra heads? the reason i ask is cos' they come with 1.6 and 2.02 valves, the 1.6 are fine, but the 2.02 cant have gas seats installed cos' they cut into the water gallerys. so if it has been run on gas for a while, maybe your seats are a bit worn. hence the low RWKW figure.
