Question Replacing Front and Rear Brakes

    Hello everyone,

Just inquiring about replacing front brakes with slotted rotors? Do i need to change the calipers as well? anything more that i have to change with it?
And for the rear brakes, i want to change them into disc brakes? Will i need a new diff as well?
    :b:
Is this hard to do and cost a lot?
    Thanks
    scbh

Scbn, I swapped my standard rotors with a set of DBA sports rotors on my Calais 8 that are slotted and well ventilated. They are a very cost effective option and work brilliantly when matched with the correct pads. Most good brake shops will be able to help you out. This would be your best option. If you have more money to spend you could continue with new calipers too, brake booster and brake lines but then your budget had better be a bit larger too. Good luck.

replacing front brakes, will depend on your budget.

Best option will be VT twin spots coversion you will need a 1" master cyl & vacume booster to suit.
Next best, VL turbo rotors & calipers on the front, again you need a 1" master cly & vacume booster to suit.
    Else
replace your front rotors with slotted, if you want a low dust pad you can go for something like bendix advance, if you want better braking something like bendix advance.

    Rear disc conversion is easy.

You remove all your old drum assembly including handbrake cable, leave your brake lines. you require backing plates, handbrake shoes, disc brake handbrake cable and hand brake assembly (best to buy new) also rear rotors & calipers lines _should_ come with your backing plates, also buy new copper washers for your lines you will need 4. You will also require 2 disc brake wheel bearing & seal kits for your axels as well they are different than with drums.

If you buy the handbrake parts new you will have a good handbrake these parts get mangled when someone pulled the handbrake on while the car is in motion.
Part number list for the hand brake assembly below
    2x - 90075839 PIN - CLEVIS
    2x - 3432340 LINK - PRESSURE
    2x - 90111317 LEVER - BRAKE SHOE
    2x - 92040388 SPRING - ACTUATING LEVER RETURN
    4x - 92008741 PIN - BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN
    4x - 7410794 SPRING - BRAKE SHOE HOLD DOWN
    4x - 90079327 SPRING - SHOE RETURN
    2x - 90075044 SLEEVE - ADJUSTING
    2x - 90075042 NUT - ADJUSTING
    2x - 90075043 SCREW - ADJUSTING

Dont really know about cost of a rear disc conversion I actually have a complete salisbury discbrake diff at home I am trying to work out what to do with at the moment.

    Thanks for the advice guys.
My budget might only allow me to get the front slotted rotors done.

Are u going to sell that Diff?

    thanks

if you feel reasonably confident doing a rotor & pad swap is pretty easy to do yourself.

Yeah going to sell the disc brake diff
