Default Dual Battery In The Boot

    hey.

i got some new speakers, amps, etc... and i want to put the amps under a fake floor (see here) back to the story

well i want to relocate the battery in a box in the boot and i also want to have a second battery just to run the stereo/amps etc... so i can listen to it when the car is off and i have no risk of not being able to start it (and maybe to run a fridge).

    how would i do this??

    thanks

Or a cheaper option is to buy the solenoid by itself off of ebay or from a shop (look around to see wat they're goin for). Go for a Redarc solenoid as they have a pretty good reputation. Then all ya need is some terminals and battery cable....works out cheaper then buying a kit.

To wire it up, run battery cable from the starter battery to the starter motor, and run the charge wire from the alternator to the starter battery (as the battery is in the boot, just run the charge wire to the big post on the starter motor). Then have a battery cable going from the starting battery to the Redarc solenoid, then on the other post on the solenoid, have a battery cable going to ur 2nd battery. This way the system always charges the starting battery first, then when the battery gets to like 14v it switch the solenoid and joins the 2 batteries 2gether, so the 2nd starts charging. When ya turn ur car off, and listen to the stereo (have ur stereo on the 2nd battery), the solenoid switches back at about 11-12v which disconnects the 2 batteries, so u only flatten the 2nd battery.
