I have a stage 2 cam which will get you a decent bit more. The stage 2 can go into the engine without any modification. If ya do some head work and/or dual carby's or bigger carby you'll get a decent bit more. My 202 was just a little faster then my 253 with the cam and a few other things done to the 202

the factory Varajet will do just fine if it's in good condition & setup correctly. If you really want to ditch the factory carb, go for a Webber like the ones used on XE/XF Falcons.

For your biggest gain convert it to EFI

Else spend your money on making the head work, port the hell out of it, biggest valves you can fit, heavy valve springs and a larger cam something around 480 thou of lift, 112 deg lobe separation 280deg duration valve timing as follows inlet .34/66 exhast .70/30 will give good idle vacume and power around 3200-6500 RPM
    anti pump up lifters
ACL race series pistons, star fire 4 rods
knife edge balence the crank, lighted the fly wheel
you should by then have a weapon of a 202.

    or
fit a V6 or V8 which will be cheaper and produce more power

thanks, also by putting on a set of pacemaker extractors would there be much of a gain there? also what would be an ideal exhaust set up? As i want something that is pretty loud with a decent note?

everywhere ive read even in dyno tests the factory varajet outperforms the 350 holley on a 6 even street machine magazine tested them and said the varajet was better they all seem to recon the 390 holley 4 barrel is a better choice if going carby route but efi will give a heaps noticable gain i jumped from my stock other than extractors and aircleaner vh into a friends injected 6 cyl vk and the difference was very noticable..
