    Default vh sle lights

hey my brother has a vh sle ser 1 253 and when he is driving along at night with the lights on they are bright. but now and again they will go dull and then go back to being bright. Now while driving it i have noticed when the lights go dull the volt meter is droping power but when they are bright the volt meter seems to sit way to far to the right off the meter???

also he just had an immobiliser fitted and when the car seems to heat up hot and then you stop and then try to start the car again it tends not to want to kick over???

    Any help would be appretiated.

    Cheers Mick

it should be running at 14.5 volts. which is way over to the right. it shouldnt drop below 8 volts. try vkbelinas suggestion then check your alternator belt tension.

having your idle speed too low will mean your alt will not charge. so when you are stopped at a red light your head lights/taillights/radio/heater fan etc etc etc are all running off battery voltage. so maybe tune it up a bit.

Also something else to add when i had a charging prob on my VK I was running the correct belt however the belt sat too low on the pully and bottomed out, I ended up having to get a wider belt to fix the problem

    cheers
