swirl pot low on fuel and pump picking up air due to low level and up hill angle happens on hard cornering too when the fuel drains away from the swirl pot and pickup point

standard fuel lines ran up inside the trans tunnel next to the auto and close to the exhaust too , most hdt cars shifted the fuel lines and brakes to the far side of the rail to avoid overheating of the fuel lines and boiling the brake fluid and a vapour lock in the fuel lines , also carby fuel bowls suffer from movement and can splash extra fuel over the bowl walls in the carby just a design fault .

We had the same prob in my VK last night at the burnout comp. Would go to flick it around and it kept cutting out. When we were back in the pits I had a look at the fuel filter and it had stuff all fuel in it bubbling around.

We've decided to use a fuel cell, surge tank and an electric pump, but how do people use an electric pump without a return? The carby we're using is a 600 holley.

Some late model EFI cars have no return line now but have a spring loaded fuel pressure reg in the tank above the pump so no need to run a return line back to the tank . a simple t piece with a restricter in it will do the trick as well or an adjustable reg ????

ah yes, i pondered that problem for ages. was doing my head in cos' my car came with a dud electric fuel pump and couldnt for the life of me find the return.

basically they dont need one. the holley floats shut off any fuel they dont need which backs the pump up. you need to get a good regulator and keep it under 7 PSI and thats it.

anyway back on topic, you sure its fuel? you check your trans fluid? is it auto?

yeh i popped the bonnet not long after and noticed it had **** all fuel in the filter and everything in the engine bay was ****n hot so hot that i was checking the trans and engine oil and i burnt my finger literally had to use a rag to check em so that could be my problem but that was after thrashing it for like 20mins or so
