i have scored a vk commodore on gas with a 2 year old paint job and a set of 17s for 400 bucks problem is no spark i have replaced the coil dizzy cap rotor button leads and plugs and my cut of switches its got power at the coil but no spark at the plugs
ok so check the two wires from the dizzy to coil are both connected and on the crrect terminals
whats a cut out switch? you mean points?
For spark problems lift the cover off the side of the distributer & check out module - make sure its dry & connections good - you will want to put screws back in if you want to check for spark with the cover off as it earths the module through the screws. Without the approriate testing equipment you will have to check that you are getting power to the coil & module - that the distributer is turning - plastic gear strips as does the camshaft driven gears - if it has power & connections good replace module - should be around $60 or take coil & module to a mechanic for testing. Good luck
Great advice, but....
If it is a VK carbed and stock, it will have EST (Electronic Spark Timing) and therefore no module.
My advice is to check your dash lights for the EST lamp and if it is lit, search this site (and others) for some potential solutions.
BTW welcome aboard bpefi, buckle up, hang on & enjoy the ride!
est light is lit so does that mean its cactus
