Just recently got the bearings from our local bearing shop. just wanted to no whats involved in removing the existing gearbox and the steps taken to do that. ari666 thats a front wheel drive automatic trans you've put a pic up of don't confuse the poor guy.

kizza 50 can you post a pic of exactly what we are looking at? what model VK is it mate? As i remember all the 6cyl's had a 5spd box behind them which isn't a box i'd reccommend a novice touch beyond getting it out of the car. If its a V8 its quite likely an M20 aussie 4speed which is doable if you are carefull and patient and have good tools. Does the box have two long external linkages on the right and a short one high on the left?

when changing gears it makes a loud and crunchy noise..... when u put it into 2nd its about to go bang. mechanic said its a common problem to have in the vk's. The car is a series 2 4 speed manual 6 cyl 85' VK with the blue motor i think :S

All the VK 6cyls on this side of the ditch came from the factory with the black3.3 with est(electronic spark timing)computor controlled) ignition and five speed manual, there was the injected 3.3 too but they all had a traumatic behind them. The VB & VH had the blue motor and the manuals were 4spd fillipino boxes or the old trusty M20 aussie box. Who knows what has been swapped over 23odd years. Get under the car and take a picture of the box and post it here
