VK Project Car

G'day all,

My name is Joshua, call me Joshua, Josh, J or a-hole...... I guess this being my first post, it will serve as my introduction as well.

First a bit of background. I am a mechanic by trade, and at the moment am a stay at home dad whilst i study some engineering science and a business degree. I got my trade in the USA working with Nascar Teams and General Motors. It was the best introduction to mechanics a bloke could ask for. I met an aussie lady, came here and havent left yet. Working for GM, I was also drawn to the holden here, you hear A LOT about it in the states.

For the future I am planning on opening a garage, I have a couple of places lined up for purchase, but me and the Mrs are still deciding where to move (Bundaberg, QLD FTW)

On to my original post topic....

I have a VN in my garage on the hoist ATM and it is in the process of being restored from rusted out 1st car (the ladies) to street machine (turbo's, big block chev, the lot :P ) and I wanted a car for ME (married guys will understand this one) so i picked up a shi**y VK in the local for 800. It is in OK nick....but it is BAAAAAD, i gett 100k's out of the bull**** backyard LPG conversion, and the motor is about to blow a piston out the block I am sure. PLUS the VK's most favored niggle, the powersteering, has begun to leak and make that god awful noise everytime u touch the wheel...

I was going through my spares yesterday and found a full black motor i was going to once turbo/suprcharge, and thought that might be good for the VK.... I also have a supra halfcut from an unfinished project...which could be tasty...

I have no idea, the only catch is I want to spend as little as possible. I am a fan of the challenge that a limited budget can produce, and if i document my travels here, it may serve as inspiration to others...

So, how about some ideas??

Something I have often wondered how it would go would be an R9 Rodeo V6 in a commodore.

If you like a challenge maybe a donk out of a nissan 300zx twin turbo

check the write off auctions maybe for a supercharged mercedes V8.

outlaw motor out of a sprintcar, im sure on LPG it would pass emissions

loads of different options out there

personally i would go 308 but meh. each to their own. i just love the challenge of wringing out horses from an old outdated engine. even still my block surprises quite a few cars out there. plus i got this thing about original cars, but i guess since your came with a 202 i would be looking at turbo'ing it.

i think there is a user on here called MICKEYD (think) he has done a few turbo'd 202's by the looks of it and could be a good place to dig info from

chuck the 308 in but before you do that stroke it. Only way to go.
