I need a measurement! I have a VK 10 Bolt Salisbury at home that I want to put into my standard VH. I need to find out if the tailshafts are the same length so I can get the right diff yoke welded onto mine.
If someone could help me out with this or show me where to go that would be great. I have a few days off and I'd like to get it done.
Thanks.

yeh only late vks had borgys and your car that diff i sold you are salisbury u bolt style yokes so would both bolt up up
I forgot to mention that I have a straight 6 202 setup at the moment and I want to put the salisbury in to replace the standard diff.
The yokes are different sizes so they won't bolt straight up. I need to know the tailshaft measurements (and where they are measured from) so I can get the right yoke welded to my shaft. (lol)

welded? they un bolt from the centre take your tailshaft to a wreckers and get them to match it to a v8 tailshaft max it would cost is $80
ah i see. you have the big (V8) salisbury and you have the tailshaft from the little one. yeah use the end bit.
I'm glad you understand!!
I'm not in a position to check at the moment but if I did replace the entire tail shaft from the gearbox to the diff would I have the same problem at the gearbox end? Considering that I have the 202 setup? I wouldn't want to go to the trouble of getting more pieces only to find that I've overcome the issue at the axle end only tp gain the same issue at the gearbox end.
Are the yokes from the back of the standard 83 VH trimatic gearboxes the same for the 6's and 8's?

Just thinking off the back of my head here,i have 308 trimatic and my tail shaft is the size of a pigmy,s dick looks like a standard 6cyl 4cyl tailshaft..
Floor it and swerve driving skool
well my mate put a 308 in his 6 ute and the tailshaft fitted straight up. not sure if HJ is diffferent to commo but i doubt it
yeh but he didnt change diffs or transmissions
if it doesnt fit straight in, which i wouldnt think would be an issue, after all i just slapped a V8 diff into my 202 6 cylinder VH which had the standard diff before i ripped it out and it fit fine, but if your having trouble, you dont have to replace the whole tailshaft, just the 2nd half of it. it should be in 2 bits and connected in the middle via a uni joint or something of that nature
