Default 20" mags on older Commodores

Just wondering wat size tyres people with 20's are using on their older Commodores. We picked up a set the other week for my VK, now just saving for some tyres. The cheapest I can find (I don't care if they're crap, as long as they have tread and hold air) is on ebay and can get 4 for around $600. I can get 225x35's or 245x30's. I'm assuming the skinnier tyre is gonna fit alot better so might go for the 225's, would they fit on a 8.5" rim?

Chucked one of the wheels on the back, and there's isn't much room behind the wheel, wat have other people done to their cars to fit them?

But yeah if anyone has any info or tips on chucking 20's on the old girls, fill me in.

One of my good mates has 19's using 235's .. I dont think it would be that much difference to be honest between 19's and your 20's.

I have 17's on mine using 235's and all fits nicely. Also I have seen/heard people using spacers to give them that extra 10mm (approx) clearance.

    Thats my 2 cents.

Hey v8commy just sent ya a PM buddy!

vkcommo, the rubber is there from the last burnout comp we had here. Not to fussed about cleaning it off coz it's prolly gonna be a while b4 we rego it, and will prolly be in another burnout comp soon!

D34N, yeah I got my 19's on the front at the moment, might chuck them on the back and see how they go. I've had my 18's on all around tho and it didn't scrub.

    Thx for the info guys!

Well it's not as bad as I thought. The rears fit perfect, but the fronts rub pretty bad. When I took the 19's off I saw they had been rubbing on the front too, but I can't even push it very far with the 20's coz of the amount of rubbing on the front lol.

Might have to get the spring seats moved up about 10mm and buy some lower springs.

Nah not scrubbing at all in the front now. Scrubs in the back going over bumps......but I haven't even had the gaurds rolled yet so hopefully that will fix the rear scrubbing lol. Also haven't fitted the adjustable panhard rod yet either.

Here's a short vid of the wagz going up the road and back to check for scrubbing. This was b4 we changed the struts and springs.

And here's a few screenshots from another vid after the struts have been modified and ultra lows put in the front (just remember the strut mod lifted the front 10mm).

yeah lol. We had cut springs in which we put in for the burnout comp.....but just sat to low and looked pretty crappy so chucked the kings back in it.

Me and me mates were arguing over how many coils to take off, they wanted 3, but I thought 2......ended up taking off 3 and it was poo. Had another set we could of cut up but the king spring lows don't look to bad.

If ya watch the vid closely ya can see the yellow springs behind the back wheel as it's going back into the yard.
