    Default From 253/308 to 304

Hey guys, I want an old girl but I want a 304 in her. I can't be bothered with the hassle of converting a 202 to 304, So I am planning on buying a 253 or 308 and putting the injected engine in so I don't have to change the box/diff/springs/radiator etc. If I were to change the 308/253 out, I would need to get new wiring/ecu and new fuel lines etc right? Reason I want 304 is because of fuel costs and I am wanting to stroke it to 355, So it would be alot easier to use a VR/VS 304 as they are allready milled out.
    Cheers

whats the question? would you need a loom? if so then yes, you will. and yes, you will need a fuel return line.

Plan on changing the box too. Almost all (if not all) 253's were drilled to a trimatic stud pattern to suit the trimatic auto or aussie 4 sp. You can build a trimatic to be strong enough behind a efi motor but the aussie boxes were marginal at best and won't handle the power.

All EFI blocks were drilled to the chev "turbo" pattern and open you up to a heap of other transmission options. Grafting the wiring loom into the stock electrics isn't hard and been covered a heap of times before. You can save yourself some grief in the fuel system by raiding a EFI VL and getting the fuel lines and tank that has a EFI pump all integrated.

Yeah, Im planning on getting a T5 box and the crossmember from castlemine rod shop. Could I get the tank out of a VN or VS instead?

Yes, I know I'd need the loom but main question was would I need an ECU and stuff because im changing to injected. I'm 90% sure you do but just not sure.

Pretty sure the VN/S ones are significantly different. VL is a straight forward bolt up job and they are very cheaply available.

Add another 10% to that one - you want efi then you will need the ECU.

Thats only the VL Director, had a 4 speed TH tranny. All Vl V8s factory had trimatic. Only time you would get a th350/th400 if someone put it in there.
