yes all a/c systems run a hi/low pressure switch..

you need to ad approx 250grams to the high side and then run the car with ac on full and slowly let refriderant into the the low side not letting the pressure exceed 300kpa for safety..

youll struggle to fill the system without it running

you really should be charging the system through the low side! Could be half your problem. By going through the high side, not only is it unlikely that you will get the full charge in, but you also risk filling the compressor with liquid - BANG!

If you vac the system down properly, you should get most of the charge in through the low side with A/C off. If not start the engine, A/C on and draw the remaining charge through the low side, whilst watching your gauges for overpressure.

you do an initial charge through the high side, allow it to "boil off" rotate the compressor by hand and make sure its free then run the system

thats what the courses are teaching

    mmm.... strange.
when I got my accreditation we were told to charge through the low side only (granted that was some years ago) seems like a lot safer & simpler method.

If you get it wrong charging through the high side, you risk stuffing the compressor - and I've seen it happen...
