m21 4 speed

ive got a m21 4 speed behind a 308
i un-bolted the rear of the tail shaft from the diff
when i started the car in nuteral without the clutch on the shaft spun. is this ment to happen??
what could the problem be???

The output shaft will spin in neutral but only when it has no or very little resistance. Im guessing that you've had the gearbox in and have had the car idling in neutral with the tailshaft attached and no problems? And even with the clutch disengaged it still has that little bit of drag to spin the gearbox when it has no talishaft.
Then id say you you have nothing to worry about.
