Alrihgt im cleaning the engine bay and just wondering wat the best way to clean it is.. its got grease, dirt, over 30 years of crap all over the bay. so whats the best cleaner and way to clean it. let me know cheers
De-greaser, rags and some love and passion for your machine haha. Nylon brushes are great to get grime off without scratching the hell out of everything. Brass bristle brushes are good too for the heavier grime yet wont scratch bare steel (in my experience it hasnt). Its just alot of time and how clean u want it, WD-40 works too as a light loosen-upperer if u dont want to use something as hard core as degreaser.
I used about 3 cans of australian export degreaser and a high pressure water thingy (can't think of name) and rags/brushes on the heavier stuff, that should do it really, with the heavier grease/grime/etc... spray with the degreaser and wait a sec or two, then hit it with a brush, leave for another sec or two and spray off with the washer..
do it all in small stages starting at the top of the engine and don't let any water in the carby what ever you do
EDIT: Remember to clean the chassis and under the battery

degreaser is good for oil/grease but won't have much effect on dirt
CT-18 truck wash is a good start.
soapy water and a rag then rinse of with running hose
talk to a detail supplyer and ask for a chemical calld "ripper" works great for dirt ect and wont fade/damage paint, and kero for ya oil/grease
BAD COP!! NO DONUT!!
my dad swore by phenol. probably spelt it wrong. He'd mix it with water, spray it on, leave it for a few minutes and hose it off.
degreaser, water blaster... plstic bag over electtronics etc.
Floor it and swerve driving skool
Dont leave degreaser on rubber, it eats it. Make sure you wash it off after cleaning.
degreaser usually won't have much effect on dirt.
