    ATM I have a m21 4speed gear box behind my 308
I've have been told these are no good for draging??

I am wanting to use this car as a drag and burnout car

what are the turbo400 boxes like?
I would mainly be looking for a powerglide I think

Heavy power sucking lead weights. A tricked Trimatic is good for 500HP. I dont know if a 2 speed would be good for burnouts.

ok well thats what a stall is for to pick up the revs so that your matching your cam duration which means better take offs

no point putting in a stally unless you have a aftermarket cam. stock stall is fine for stock cams. when you upgrade your cam itll give you your estimated power range, ie. crane 286 is 2500-6500rpm, so i would be looking for a 2500-3000 stall converter. depending on how much fuel i wanted to waste.

stock cams power is something silly like 1500-3000rpm, so stock stall is fine (i think someone mentioned 1600 but not sure)

i only have the trimatic that is in my car, other than my 2 speed power glide . i like trimatics. simple and good for the HP my engine puts out. i sent it to the tranny guy to have it re-clutched and shift-kitted. twas' 800 for the reco and 400 for 2500 stally.

if you are looking at drag racing, then i dunno. it depends on your power output bro. 308 ci displacement (my opinion) wont blow a trimatic that has been clutched properley. lets face it if you can get more than 400 HP from a 308 your doing pretty well. im talking NA and un stroked.

if you are going 355-383 i wouldnt bother with trimatics, prolly look more at 400's but my tranny guy says powerglides are the ducks guts for 400+ HP sadly though they are gettin up there $$ wise.
