hey, does anyone know where i can get an original vc floor pan for the boot??? can't get any vc parts where we live at any of the wreckers. any help much needed. thanks.
just use sheet metal and get it welded in
Years ago I siki flexed a dummy gal sheet panel over the top of the rusty floor & pressure packed the whole lot flat black & got away with it for years. It never came unstuck & when the paint wore away, you gave it another quick coat of black.
just go to the wreckers, find a good floor, cut it out and weld it in your car.
then have a beer or two with the 200 bucks you just saved.
thanks, but the wreckers up here don't have any vc's anymore. will try rare spares and see.
To be fair to the op, wreckers don't really want stuff as old as VC's now and those they have are generally rusted out anyway. I posted recently that even VS's are crushed almost complete and trucked to the recyclers these days.
and no, I don't live on the moon!!! I live in the tweed heads area NSW. have tried a lot of the wreckers around here and even the commodore specialist ones have very little or nothing. and the stuff they do have is stuff I don't want or need.
Damm spoilt city slickers.
The only VK parts I've found at my local wreckers were in the boot of a VL.
Mind you, it was a brand new front bar with both ends.
I live in Orange NSW, the local yard here has about 10 or so VB-VL commodores, and one at forbes I reckon has about 10 again. The cars at Forbes atm are more complete. I am visiting Sydney next week, there was a particular part I was after and had to ring 10 wreckers that did holdens before I could find it. I would hazard a guess and say within 5-10yrs VB-VL commodores in wreckers yards will become very rare....and that i suppose is when rare spares comes in....
