I picked up my new ride yesterday, a VH vactioner wago with a 253 motor. On the drive home from Melbourne to Geelong the oil light came on after about 40 k's, it started to flicker then came on steady. I pulled over and checked the oil and it was full. I started the car and the oil light was off, after another 40 k's roughly it did it again, once again I stopped, checked the oil and started again, it kept doing this, any idea why this is happening?Maybe oil pump? Or blocked pick up? can it be fixed without pulling the motor out? Cheers Steve
probably a bad earth
Stick a guage on it and measure your oil pressure

check the oil sender electrical connector.
The connector often loses it's tension which means it's moves around with the engine making and breaking contact. Pull it off, squeeze it back together with a set of pliers & refit
Or may need a service. When I bought my VK wagz, had a half hour drive to get it home, didn't think it was gonna make it. Had no oil pressure, ticking like fark, and took ages to build up speed. Didn't care if I killed it coz I didn't need the motor and had my bro behind me ready with the tow rope lol.....but yeah, gave it an oil change and replaced the filter and it was like a totally different motor lol.
