My fan is constantly running with either the ignition or accessories on altho it does not run with the key in the off position.
Primarily I have removed the heater fan fuse which had no effect, the fan speed switch also still worked but removing the A/C fuse stopped the fan running altogether.
I am thinking maybe the fan switch needs attention.
Not sure if it is related but the front of the centre console seems to get hot and the air in the vents also seems to always be warm when the heat selector is on cold.
Anybody... ???
If you are always getting hot air through the vents it could be because the heater tap is stuck, or the cable that conects it is not attached or broken.
The fan issue sounds like either a wiring problem or as you said the fan speed control slide lever is malfunctioning. However with all these things going on it may the case that someone has been fiddling around behind there before at some stage. How long have you owned the car?
Does your fan selector still change fan speed or is it always on full bore?
Sounds like its a electric fault. Often happens in these older gen commies.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
Im not exactly familiar with the VB's heater control, but, i do have the owners manual from my dads VB when he had one somewhere in the shed, hmmmmmm will have to go find.
Sounds like your heater control tap may be jammed or poorly adjusted. youll have to look to be sure its switching off fully. Also with the fan running constantly, the A/C switch down the left opposite of the lights switch could be stuffed, does the compressor turn on and off still or not at all?
