Tacho in vh 6 to 8 conversion

Hi Guys . After some info on how to hook up the tacho in my VH . I took the vacuum gauge out and placed the 3 clips into the dash and then fitted the tacho gauge . what wires do i need to look for and do i need to hook anything up in behind the dash ? Help please

There is a big thick tan wire that runs to the coil but there is no black wire ? Do i have to run my own wire ?

so was the "tan wire" actually pink? under the dirt?

Cleaned the wire and it's still a tan color . could be red for all i care it's doing it's job
